A sliver of skin peeks out from the gap between her neck and the shirt, just a little bit, and it's nothing at all, just skin, but Mira has to stop and place a hand over heart, make sure it’s still beating, and it is, her whole chest feels like it might burst out.
In front of her, Rumi finally looks up from her work and follows Zoey’s gaze. Her eyes find Mira.
Rumi grins. And Mira falls.

For once in her life, Rumi wants to be selfish.
Or: HUNTR/X works towards sealing the Honmoon and falls in love along the way. Pre-reveal Rumi, hiding both her patterns and her wants, loves her girls in whatever way she can until she's free (whether that means shielding Mira and Zoey in fights or pretending to be something she's not). She just has to hold out until the Honmoon’s golden. Straightforward enough, right?
