“No,” Kara confirms.
Lena looks back at the blue vase. She thinks if she looks at it long enough she might start feeling like the water inside- calm, content, accepting that its vessel is shoddy and imperfect.
She feels both their eyes on her. Molly’s is gentle, asking. Kara’s is insistent.
“Lena?” Kara asks, and Lena quickly looks away.
“It’s okay,” Molly says. “It looks like we have a lot to talk about.”

They decide that they’re going to become friends. The kind of friends who also have totally casual, no-strings-attached, nobody’s-catching-feelings sex. What could go wrong?
As Alex puts it: “Kara. This is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done. And I’m including the time that you set fire to your own hair and nearly burned the house down trying to do some spell you found on MySpace to make Troy Bolton materialize in real life and marry you.”
Or: Lena and Kara go around New York City eating food and banging each other until their feelings eat away at them, and Alex tries not to have an aneurysm about it.

‘I’m getting married,’ Lena breathes emphatically, entreatingly, and her attention snaps to like a band pulled taut. She watches with increasingly disaffected pliancy as Lena seizes both her hands in one of her own and flashes her left at her, right under her nose. ‘Say something,’ Lena laughs, a little too breathless, a little too conscious. ‘You’re making me nervous.’
Don’t, she thinks she could’ve said, and the vehemence of the very thought startles her. Why? is a little better, syntactically, in theory—less cruel, an open question, room for conversation. Really? is enthusiastic, breakwater, appropriate, adequate.
‘Oh, god,’ she says instead.

Summary
Each morning, there is a routine, wake up, coffee, work, food, sleep, never in that order, never those same things, but work is there, always. When the entire multiverse is blow up and put back together, a death, the second death really, of a bother, friends gone, family gone, nothing but work, utterly alone, ones mind might start to see things, real or not. Lena might start seeing a superhero, a friend, everywhere.
It's in the corners, shadows, rooftops, boxes neatly packed away in a mindscape, in the fractures of her reality, those fracture, the tricks the eyes play, they become the true reality.
Piecing the fractured bits together, letting the shadows become light, allowing corners to become open rooms. That's the challenge.

They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

The woman shifts her weight, pursing her lips and seeming to think about it. “I’m Lena,” she offers at last, watching Kara’s face.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Lena.” Kara gives her an enormous smile.
“Likewise.” Lena smiles back, then takes a breath. “I hope this isn’t the last time we talk.”
“Me, either.”
Kara watches Lena go, sees her pause at the street, then dart across awkwardly in her heels. “Lena,” she says to herself, trying it out. She goes to take another bite of her hot dog and feels the ketchup drip from her thumb, dropping into her lap.

Kara Danvers is in a slump: she’s just been fired from her job as a producer for a local news show, and she can’t get a single call back from prospective employers. But an offer from Luthor Broadcasting Corporation to help save their failing morning show might be just the thing she needs to turn it all around.
