He remains quiet, but his silences change – harden, in a way she can't explain. He loses his baby fat and then he's all sharp edges. His eyes start to look like they're hiding secrets and sometimes it reminds her so forcefully of her father. It reminds her how Robb has changed, grown distant.
He stops telling her things, starts closing off. She wants to tell him that she has more room in her heart, she can fit more of his secrets inside her, but she doesn't. Whenever she presses, he leaves.

After losing his hand on Cloud City and discovering that Darth Vader is his father, Luke thinks things over and comes to the conclusion that a) Vader is actually on the Rebellion's side and just hasn't realized it yet, b) Vader needs his help, c) Vader needs to figure out that he and the Rebellion want the same things, and d) the best way to accomplish both b. and c. is to (obviously) surrender to Vader and refuse to leave him alone, trusting in the Power of Love to change Vader's ways.
Leia, Ahsoka, and the rest of Luke's friends in the Alliance disagree with this, but they can't get Luke to leave, and Vader can't kill them because it would destroy his new relationship with his son (it's not that Vader is attached to them at all -- no, no). Admiral Piett is forced to open up the unused guest quarters on the Executor as the Sleepover to Restore the Republic (And Maybe Save Darth Vader in the Process) drags on and grows to unreasonable proportions.

With her heart racing, she continues on, steps quicker now. With her quickened heart comes quickened breath, and it clouds hot and moist within the scarf she has pulled up over her nose. All too soon, it feels cloying, and so she pulls a mittened hand out of her muff and reaches up and tugs the scarf down and breathes in the sharp, crystalline winter air. Her eyes flutter closed with relief, but they snap back open when she hears something rustling.
A deer, she tells herself. It was simply a deer, fleeing from her. Animals are more scared of you than you are of them, she hears in mother’s soothing voice.
