He’s at the edge of the dry sand, right before it gets damp and sticky, sensible sneakers sinking into the softness. His hair’s gotten longer, long enough to twist into ever-familiar curls, wind bouncing them around his solemn face and making him look terribly old and terribly young all at once and Kirk wants to cry.
