Gojo wants so much it feels like digging a hole in the middle of his chest. Why doesn’t Suguru see it? He follows Suguru down a hallway, where the lights are brighter and feel like daggers stabbing his eyes, and the people are quieter, and the carpet is lighter. Suguru guides him upstairs then, apologizing to whoever they bump into, and finally opening a door to push Gojo inside. It’s a bathroom, and the first thing Gojo sees is his reflection in the little mirror above the sink. His hair is wild and his pupils are completely blown, made too obvious by the bright blue of his eyes. He wonders if Suguru’s eyes would be such a dead giveaway, considering they’re smaller and much darker, and so fucking beautiful–
“What are you doing?” Suguru turns him around to scold him properly and puts a hand on his forehead to tilt his head back and examine his eyes. He rolls his own. “Seriously?”

It was not the kind of kiss that Vash remembered most. Those kisses were rough and urgent; they were shared between desperate men. Pleasure and comfort had been things stolen by force, ripped from the grasping claws of a deadly world. But Wolfwood had not been a man bereft of all gentleness, and that perhaps had been the miracle of him: that in that world, and in that life, he sheltered a tiny flower of mercy. And that was what was in the kiss. Not that it was unfamiliar, but it had been so, so rare. Vash felt the hot track of his tears fade into his hairline before he even realized he was crying, and he gave himself up to a dead man's kiss.
The tears touched Nick's fingertips, buried in Vash's hair; he broke the kiss to dry them with his lips. When their mouths met again they tasted of salt and desert, and Nick had the heat of it to match. They went from a funeral to a full-blown wake with alarming speed, tongues tangled, bodies entwined, shaking with a kind of leashed desperation that neither of them fully understood.
But Nick, for reasons of his own, did not press for more. Even though he wanted it--and there was no hiding that they both did, their bodies too close for that to be any secret--he held back. And just kissed him. Kissed him until they were more drunk with it than with any liquor, until the strain of emotion and whiskey and the hour got the better of them and they fell asleep that way, lungs full of each others' air, fully dressed on Nick's unmade bed, wrapped around each other like two shipwrecked sailors clinging to the same mast.
