Summary

Soaked bandages covered half the human’s face while a bewildered black eye peered at him in utter amazement. That expression had lingered in Xie Lian’s mind long after returning to the ocean floor.
As the last doors of consciousness begin to close, the drowning jiaoren can’t help but wonder why he chose that memory to be his last. He wonders what ever happened to that child, and who he had grown up to become.
POTENTIAL NOVEL SPOILERS
This has probably been done before, but an au inspired by Starember's mermaid au art and jiaoren mythology.
