The Raiders hadn’t given Ilya even an A yet. Coach had taken him aside and told him they weren’t going to think about a leadership role on the team until he’d finished his rookie year. He had enough to deal with, Coach said, which was nicer than saying Ilya was still nineteen, and his English sucked shit, and they weren’t quite done being worried about “character issues.”

The image is almost unbearably tender for Shane, where his own seventeen year old thrill at seeing Ilya Rozanov meets all the things Shane knows about that lonely boy now.
Shane thinks: Do you love number 81 more than you love this man?
"Hey," Ilya says, brushing his knuckles over Shane's cheek. "Whatever I do, I will be there when you come home."
Ilya decides to retire. Shane is very normal about it.

Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves.
Simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. “Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

The Duke had been awakening the beast inside of him since they met. The hot, almost angry surge of desire inside him. To press close to Minho's body, to feel his hands and lips upon him. The beat of it pulsed within him, hot and heady.
The salty smell of humid skin and something else lying below. If he pulled off Minho's cravat would he be able to smell him? The real him. The scent of the alpha beast that lived inside his handsome body. Under the silk and skin.
His unpresented nose was too weak to pick up such things, but if he pressed close? As close as their clothes and flesh would allow. If he placed his nose right on the warm spot between the Duke's neck and shoulder, would he be able to smell it then? Perhaps using his tongue could help. If he could taste it–

His first public appearance after presenting, the second son beta no one paid attention to, now revealed to be a diamond in the rough.
Minho doesn't think when he offers Jisung his leather-gloved hand. And Jisung takes it without hesitation, the touch light, for balance and form, but Minho feels the warmth as if it were skin on skin, searing through the leather like flame.
The noise surrounding them rises as soon as Jisung appears, all attention focusing on him.
He's luminous.
Or: Jisung is a late-presenting omega born into a rich family. Minho is the bodyguard assigned to protect him. -

Unfortunately, if there was one thing he couldn’t resist, it was a mystery.
