“You’re right here,” Jay echoes, feeling inexplicably fond. He flexes his fingers, then brushes a thumb over one arch of Sunghoon’s perfect eyebrows. “Remember when you weren’t real?”
Heeseung, on the other side of Jay, must catch the tail end of their conversation, for he snorts at that. “Has our Jongseongie had a little too much to drink?” he asks, smiling sweetly at Sunghoon over Jay’s shoulder.
“No,” Jay insists, obstinate. “You”—he aims one crooked finger at Jake, though to be honest he could be pointing at Taehyun and it wouldn’t make a difference—“you guys didn’t believe he was real.” He reaches out, pinches one of Sunghoon’s cheeks. “But look at him. Here he is! In the flesh.”

Summary
Heeseung doesn’t think about it before he turns to face Jongseong. Maybe if he did think about it, he would have realized just how close they are. Centimeters away from each other, Jongseong’s stare settling on his eyes, then later, his lips.
“Is this what you want?” Jongseong asks, a whisper.
Heeseung hesitates. It’s such a quiet, simple question, but perhaps that’s what makes it hardest to answer.

He's a lot. A lot more than Jay could have ever predicted when Jungwon stepped into his house that first time—more astute and unpredictable, vivid and lovely. He's been noticing it recently, just how lovely Jungwon is, but he doesn't know how to connect all the discrete hints to form a picture he wants to see.

Summary
They’ve stopped underneath these golden streetlights, now. The outlines of Jongseong’s face—his sharp jaw, his close-cropped hair, his slight frown—are limned in the yellow brightness.
Such loveliness seems almost cruel. Jungwon looks at him and it’s like pressing his fingers against a day-old bruise—the ghost of that hurt still remains.
Jungwon takes another breath. “You were the one who broke up with me, anyway.”

Summary
Taehyun, disbelieving, laughed it off at first. But Kai had been serious, eyes determined, and had only nodded in affirmative to him asking, “Are you sure?”
It makes sense in a way. If not Taehyun, then who else? They know each other, have known each other, for so long that maybe it could be natural to share just one more thing between them.

After an hour of blatantly ignoring what’s going on during class, Jongseong comes up with a plan. During lunchtime, he turns to his friends and says, "Who wants to join the knitting club with me?"
"Isn't that just for, like, girls who want to make scarves for their boyfriends?" Jake asks, confused. When Kai elbows his side, he corrects himself: "Uh, I mean, people who want to make scarves for their, um… significant others?"
For context, it is perhaps the most fundamental fact of Park Jongseong's existence that he has been single for the past eighteen years of his life.
(Or: Jongseong joins the school's knitting club to figure out what's going on between Jungwon and the club president. It's not what he expects.)

“Relax,” Sunoo whispers. He’s dabbing something onto Sunghoon’s cheeks, spreading it across his skin with nimble fingers. “It’s just me here, hyung.”
But it’s never just anything, when it comes to Kim Sunoo. And there’s something about having Sunoo’s hands on him—this sort of closeness that’s rare to come across, nowadays—that makes Sunghoon feel as if he’s being shaped through that touch.
Sunghoon wants to know how Sunoo sees him. He wishes to be made over and then undone again.

The truth is that Jungwon has always looked at Jongseong with longing for something else, with wanting something more: at first it had been that heart-on-sleeve openness, the way Jongseong had readily let himself seem so vulnerable for everyone else to prod at, then it had been BigHit. "Yep," Sunghoon confirms, twisting his body to turn more fully towards Jake, to give him his undiluted attention. "I'm surprised you remember," he adds, more as an afterthought.
Jake leans a bit closer, places an arm on the couch behind Sunghoon for added support. "Of course, I remember everyone," Jake says. His grin widens. "And I'd never forget you."

Witnessing the metamorphosis of a trainee to idol firsthand shifted something within Heeseung. He couldn’t help but feel as if he’d been stagnant for all those months, treading water to merely stay afloat instead of rising with the tides. Even his top rankings as a trainee—being the ace, being number one—started to take on a hollow ring.
These are the things that are hard for Heeseung to forget.

Sunoo beats him to the chase. “Sunghoon-hyung,” Sunoo says, reproaching. He raises an eyebrow. “If you refuse, doesn’t that mean you forfeit?” He turns to Kai. “Right, Kai-hyung?”
“Uh… right,” Kai says, hesitant. He offers Sunghoon a helpless shrug in reply. Rules are rules, even in a game of chicken. Especially in a game of chicken.

Either way, Heeseung doesn't feel quite as surprised as he thinks he should when Jungwon mumbles, quiet in the still night, "Heeseung-hyung, what are you going to do about Sunghoon?"
If there's anyone Heeseung could tell, anyone he could trust with his worries, it would be Jungwon. So he replies, as honest as he can possibly be: "I don't know, Jungwon-ah."

“Wanted what?” Heeseung asks softly. He shuts his eyes, eyelashes trembling against his cheek. “Come on. Say it.”
“I wanted to rip it off you, obviously,” Beomgyu continues in a rush. He doesn’t bother waiting for Heeseung’s response—doesn’t want to listen to some glib remark in reply, a goading well, why didn’t you? that he can already hear so clearly in his head. Instead, Beomgyu finally closes the distance between their mouths.
(or: heeseung has terrible taste in clothes, and beomgyu... well. he's kind of into it. heeseung, that is.)
