Andre shut his eyes as he gripped the barrel of his shotgun. Cal was lucky enough that he could kill himself without a second thought. Andre was not so lucky. In this very moment, he could only feel scared.

If there were two things Andre Kreigman’s mother taught him, they were: not to show up someplace nice wearing fucked up shoes, and how to suppress guilt.
“Are you getting cold feet, dude?” Cal bought shoes that were already falling apart and wore them until you could see his socks. He didn’t get cold feet in either sense. He wasn’t about to give up. He saw things through to the end.
“No,” Andre swallows. “No, I’ve just been thinking about it too hard.”

Cal was shirtless, shoulders heaving, a faint tremble running down one arm. His mouth was swollen, blood crusted at the corner of his lips like smeared lipstick. His knuckles were a mess — split open, raw, dusted with something that might’ve been gravel or dried blood. There was a long scratch along his ribcage, shallow but angry-looking. A bruise was already purpling on his cheekbone, vibrant against his skin like spilled ink.
There was something wild in his expression: not anger. Not pain. Something worse. Pride.
“Jesus Christ,” André muttered, throat tight, anger already bubbling over with no direction to go. “What the hell happened?” But the question came out more like /What are you doing here like this, again?/

It’s the little things like the rigidness of Jake’s shoulders when they’re out together alone, or the way he speaks that convinces you he’s right about it all, doesn’t matter what it is, just that he’s right about it somehow. Albert keeps all of the above in the form of a checklist hidden away in the crevices of his brain, probably would take the form of a wrinkled scrap of a napkin up there.
Because even mentally he’s always just a little scared Jake will peek through all of Albert’s own crooked lines and see this harmless adoration for what it is.
After a few too many touches gone awry for a vlog, Albert and Jake begin the most convoluted game of Gay Chicken known to man.

And Jake knows that; he knows that their online chemistry always manages to shine through into their real-life state. They've done it before multiple times. No matter how much he's psyched himself out over it for no reason in the past. Except, there kind of was a reason this time.

Even though he was aware that Jake loved him enough to forbid him from sleeping on a leather couch, he was still unsure of whether it was a good idea. Albert wasn't sure how he was supposed to share a bed with Jake because of the constant reddish tint on his cheeks and the butterflies in his stomach he experienced whenever he was present. He had the same experience as a precocious teen experiencing his first feelings during a sleepover.
