Summary
As the mentor of this year's youngest tribute in the Hunger Games — Wovey, District 8, with her demise about as mystifying as her having stuck it out in the arena for as long as she did — you're braced for the eventual fall of losing her to the Capitol's punitive cruelty from the start.
What you aren't prepared for, however, is the unexpected benevolence of your otherwise apathetic classmate and fellow mentor Coriolanus Snow. Upon discovering you on the brink of yielding your sanity to the torment of being left alone with your own thoughts after an incident so striking, he extends you the seemingly cordial offer to spend the night at his place instead of a home where you will only be reprimanded for the fact you failed to measure up to expectations and tarnished the family name yet again. That is why your compliance isn't long in coming, as is the realization that the cool, calculated young man you've known since childhood has more comforting ability in him than he lets on.
Please note that if you haven't read the book, I urgently suggest you skim the notes below the cut before reading this piece. Thank you!

Summary
another poem i wrote about my ever-beloved, gorgeously flawed, grayed and faded, yet not forgotten henry winter. as the tags suggest, it's an account of the immediate aftermath of his suicide, with the allusion to ms tartt's own claim that we tend to quiver before all that we consider beautiful. quite dark, as expected, but short (yet not painless per se) to make up for it.

Summary
That day, you're unexpectedly distracted from enthralling work by the appearance of an old acquaintance — he turns up unannounced and bears one singular, compelling request. It is an afternoon as golden and glowing and gorgeous as any, merely starting to get mellowed by a sultry, summer haze. You do not know what the following dusk will bring, but deep within, you feel it — by force of a relentless, lingering suspicion.

Summary
Finding yourself at a function that cannot be considered your scene in the slightest, you coincidentally encounter someone who fits into the landscape even less. You are both there out of sheer necessity, more inebriated for your own good, and not exactly taking pleasure in your current situation — until the two of you cross paths, that is. In collision with your enhanced prowess, his lowered guard gives way to an indulgent, yet hazardously confrontational engagement in a place most unforeseen.

Summary
Like nighttime rain, you come and pass unnoticed. The only evidence proving your existence is not paid attention to and dissipates as the day goes on, which is why, in spite of your frequent, quite intense occurrence, you remain undiscovered — each and every time anew.
It must be the brisk, snow-infused New England air that sweeps you into an old acquaintance's apartment on a lonesome night. As you predicted, you find him wide awake, and have only one favor to ask of him; one he cannot help but indulge you in.

Summary
When Eddie suddenly flips and goes off course, setting off on a perilous, foolhardy mission to assert his heroism by going up against a swarm of demobats all on his own, Steve is beside himself with a mixture of anger, anguish, and astonishment. Soon enough, all three of those bleed into the inescapable duty to save him before it's too late.
Or: Me rewriting Eddie's death scene with Steve instead of Dustin.

One of the many tranquil and pleasant days you're so charmingly used to spending with Matt, divided into three chapters – all equally as sweet and subtly tempting as can be.

Summary
One promising night, you find yourself wandering into a local church long after opening hours to confess all the sins that have been holding your mind hostage over a period too unbearable to recall the length of. You're far from a believer in all things godly – except for the priest you've been yearning after for agonizing ages.

In Hell's Kitchen, Sundays are reserved for desirous affection in the form of delicate aftercare and light teasing. Well, you're not entirely sure whether that applies to its entire population, but it sure as hell does to your somnolent boyfriend.

Summary
Mandy rushes down the stairs, eager to leave the Gallagher house for good and put last night's frightful events behind her. However, her plans suddenly change when she stumbles upon an old friend who leaves her inert and speechless.
This is my attempt at rewriting the infamous Lip/Mandy "reunion" scene, which I personally find dissatisfying and aggravating. I can't die in peace knowing those two haven't said a single word to each other when they met for the very last time.
Title is a lyric from the song Fourth of July by Fall Out Boy.
