Perhaps that is why he’s in his current state: Perplexed, staring after Alfred’s leaving figure. From the doorway, he watches Alfred laughing into the phone and shutting the bedroom door.

    He tries to shake it off. His hand instead cups his cheek as if to compensate for a sensation that isn’t there.

    He shouldn’t be bothered by this. It’s something small, miniscule even. Most wouldn’t notice it, that break in routine.
