Summary
Despite all efforts, Andrew found himself in Kevin Day's kitchen. It was his first time in Kevin's kitchen and it was a jumble of messes. He had an honourable, light pink splashback and a marble looking countertop. But Andrew could see the green splosh of Kevin's kale smoothie and some residue ash that most likely belonged to Wymack. Abby could try control her boys as much as she wanted to, but she'd never be able to mask their imperfections. However, Andrew knew that wasn't her intention. She just wanted things to be clean. An admirable goal, but a useless one nonetheless.

Summary
Mike means to say something tame. Something like “Hi.” simple, can’t possibly mess up a greeting, right?
Or maybe if he’s feeling confident (which he isn’t) say something like “Hey, could I maybe get your number?” Leaning against the counter or, “Could I ask when you get on your next break?”
But instead of something a normal human would say, or how Steve would chat up a hot girl (and apparently also guys? Shocking revelation) at a bar.
But instead of literally anything else, what comes out of Mike’s mouth is:
“Could you help me win a bet?”
Or:
Mike has to win a bet and prove he can get a date in less than two weeks to bring to Nancy’s Birthday party, before he has time to rethink it, their very hot waiter shows up to take his order, and Mike is staring too long, and not speaking right.Mike’s fucked basically.
(Also for the sake of this fic, the Byers live in NYC, and the Wheelers live in the state of New York.)

Will had been collecting data on everything Mike Wheeler since he was five years old. He had hundreds of file cabinets in his brain, cataloguing all of Mike’s behaviors. His likes and dislikes. His mannerisms and tells. His strengths and his…weaknesses.
If this asshole thought he was going to come in and snatch Mike up without a fight, he was sorely mistaken.
Will was going to show Mike exactly what he’s been missing. He was going to prove how no one could ever give Mike what he could.

When his best friend unexpectedly shows up to Spring Break with a boyfriend, Will quickly decides that if he can't have Mike Wheeler, no one can.

“’Morning,” Mike grumbled, voice low from sleep.
“Noon,” Max corrected, as if she hadn’t only woken up thirty minutes before him.
“Wow,” he replied, squinting at the light. “Nobody thought to wake me?”
It happened casually after that, so casually it almost didn’t register at first. El laughed at something Lucas said, then turned toward Mike and leaned in, instinctively, easily, pressing a kiss to his lips like it was the most logical way to say good morning to him.

or: Mike and Will have been together for a year and a half when El comes back. The problem is, El assumes she and Mike are still together. The bigger problem is that Mike doesn’t realize Will thinks he might choose her.
