Summary
The League thinks Batman and Superman are together. This is wrong for a multitude of reasons.
Though most of the League believes that Superbat is canon, there is one member in particular who is one hundred percent certain that Batman and Superman are not together. This is because that member is in fact Batman’s husband.
Hal Jordan (aka Green Lantern) has been married to Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) for five years and counting. Clark Kent (aka Superman) was Bruce’s best man at the wedding.
There isn’t much else to say other than the fact that Batman is not married or dating or otherwise in a romantic relationship involving Superman.
The League doesn’t take the memo until far too late.

“How long have you had glasses for?”
Bruce’s brows furrow in thought. “Not long,” he squeezes his fingers into Hal’s side, pulling him closer. “I don’t frequently use them.”
“Oh, are they like reading glasses or something?”
“Something like that.” Honestly, the prescription is light enough that he can go without them, though he still optimizes them in his cowl's lenses.
Hal gives a small hum.
“What?” Bruce asks again.
“You’re gorgeous,” Hal says simply, pressing a kiss to Bruce’s hairline. “The glasses make you hot.”
Bruce lets out a huff that’s a mix between disbelief and amusement. “Excuse me?”
“Well, you’re always hot, but this…?” Hal looks down at him, eyes dark with something possessive. “Gorgeous.”
Bruce feels heat rush to his cheeks before he averts his gaze for a second, unable to continue meeting Hal’s.
“Hey, eyes on me, beautiful,” comes Hal’s gentle command.
Coaxed back into it, Bruce looks back up at him.

“What are you playing at, Lantern?” Batman’s lips are pulled into a frown, and his tone is searching, prodding– like he’s trying to see if Hal is joking or genuinely knows.
Hal raises his hands in mock surrender to show he means no harm. “Look, the code of capes, masks, and cowls: I won’t tell anyone your civilian identity.” He smiles. “I’m just letting you know that I know so that you know I’m the smartest in the League.”
“What are you talking about?” Batman applies the same tactic as earlier.
“Well, you’re the smartest, I digress– so maybe I’m the second smartest, but finding out your identity? C’mon Brucie, give me some credit, it’s pretty impressive.”
“Don’t call me that.”

“Shane, why are you still under there?”
“I’m stuck,” Shane said, committing fully now.
The room fell silent for a beat and it was long enough that Shane almost pulled himself out right then and there out of sheer embarrassment.
“You are stuck,” Ilya echoed.
“Yes.”
“Like last week.”
Shane squeezed his eyes shut embarrassed about the whole situation.
“I was not–” he started, then stopped himself. “That was different.”
“You were under the coffee table,” Ilya said, stepping closer. “And also stuck.”

Summary
Hal Jordan was dying long before a mission went wrong and his heart finally gave out.
He was dying when he signed the divorce papers. Dying without making it anyone else’s problem.
No one Noticed.
Not Bruce. Not Clark. Not the Justice League.And Hal was fine with that because twenty months ago he signed away the right to have anyone worry about him.
He would have kept it that way, too If he hadn’t burned himself out saving the world. If he hadn’t collapsed hard enough that everyone finally had to look.
Now Bruce and Clark are hovering like they never spent nearly two years avoiding him. Acting like this is their burden to carry, like they didn’t already decide, once, that letting him go was easier than staying.
Hal doesn’t understand it. There’s no cure. If Oa hasn’t found one, there’s no point in pretending otherwise. He’s made peace with dying.
Bruce and Clark haven’t.
They refuse to give up on him the way they gave up on the marriage. And that more than the poison in his blood or the ache in his chest is what hurts the most.
Because Hal is still in love with them. And loving them while they fight to save him might be the one thing he can’t survive.
