Summary
There's something that lingers in Medkit's vicinity. Oddly endearing. A natural scent that's sweet, but has some sort of maturity to it–it's perfect, especially for Medkit. It compliments him.
Sword can hear Medkit speaking, voice low yet soft; it runs smooth. He's not listening to what he's saying, but he does stare mindlessly, forgetting to blink. He likes this smell. Different from the scent of sand he's often greeted with, or the overwhelming cologne that Zuka wears on 'special occasions'. He feels his head dip to the side.
"Is something wrong?"
"What?" he asks. "Something's wrong?"

He looks at his phone: Duality - Slipknot ・ Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses ・ 2004. One of his favorite songs, one of the only songs he ever finds himself listening to.
“Slipknot,” he responds.
Katana slightly tilts his head, “What is ‘Slipknot?’”
“A nu metal band.”
“Interesting.”
“Would you like to listen to some of it?” he offers.
“Yes.”

"Now," he begins, "how could I ever dislike you?"
It's a genuine question. It's not mean to tease. It's not meant to jab at him. It's meant to be received with an equally as genuine answer. And Sword hated it. And not just that, he had a bitter disdain for the lack of distance between their faces (and lips). Their gazes share something unknown, but surely starting from their hearts. Ego is aware of it. Sword is aware of it. Despite their mutuality, he pushes Ego's resting arm off and pivots his head away, hiding the florid aglow of his warm cheeks.
"You're amazing," the compliments persist, "you're my best friend!" He quietly adds, "And our friendship is strong. I don't see why you'd ever be so flustered about that."
