The morning of February 16th came faster than Scar thought it would. The omega wanted the day to be perfect for the little girls, from the color of the decorations down to the fabric of their birthday outfits. Everything had to be perfect.
And already, things were falling apart.
Or; Scar just wanted his daughters’ first birthday to go well, but luck wasn’t really on his side.

He thought he was fine now, he was fine on his own with Owen and the other llamas, he was fine with Jimmy wanting nothing to do with him, and he was fine with never seeing Tango again. That’s just how life went, you made mistakes and you deal with the consequences.
But, the universe hated Scott personally, and wanted to see him suffer for entertainment.
The rift happened. And it all came flooding back.

The younger girl's head snapped up, her wings flaring. Grian sucked in a breath. Those were his wings. Down to the blueish gray tips of the feathers. He watched the girl for a second, locked in somewhat of a staring match before her eyes widened, and a grin broke out on her face.
“Dad!” She called, and Grian froze in place, his eyes wide.

It was late. Grian knew it was late. The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting ghastly rays of orange and pink across the sky. He swore he could see eyes in the clouds, splashing pink across his vision the longer he stared. He gripped the edge of the bridge, wooden splinters digging into his palms.

He’s nine again– nine and new and knows so many things now so rather than try to go back–
He thinks he has the chance to make things right.
The bright blue trainers he puts on are a pair he hasn’t worn in forever, something he never thought about after he grew out of them (will grow out of?) a year from now, and sets off into the night and into the rain.
The plan he has in his brain is not really a plan, moreso just a couple of half thrown ideas and maybe five steps into building back the life he had in the most painless way he could.
Maybe, he thinks, maybe this plan can start off with the family he misses– because he’s sixty and most of them too injured or too old or too dead–
Call him selfish but he misses them. He would rather find them than get himself back into that lonely existence he called a life before he woke up at nine.
Dick makes do because that’s all he can do really.

Well, this wasn't how Scott saw his afternoon going. Though, in hindsight, he probably should have seen this coming. It's not like he and Jimmy had been participating in the safest of sex practices since getting married. So really, Scott shouldn't be surprised that his period was running late. And he shouldn't be surprised at those two lines on that little piece of plastic in his hands.
