April O’Neil has faced Kraang invasions, Foot soldiers, and things that would make most people lose their minds entirely. She can handle anything.
What she isn’t prepared for is Leonardo.
It starts small a caught wrist, a quiet rooftop, a moment in the middle of a mission where everything goes loud and chaotic and somehow he is the only thing that feels still. She tells herself it’s nothing. She’s good at that.
He tells himself the same thing. He’s even better at it.
A slow burn in which two people are absolutely, completely, one hundred percent not in love with each other. And Donnie deserves so much better than this situation. And nobody is handling anything well.

He punched her.
Nobody moved when his fists met her jaw, or when she fell, landing hard on her back.
“DUDE!” Casey flew to her side; the first to comprehend the situation, to live in a world where Donnie would hit April.
It took his brothers another few seconds.
Leo still has a hard time believing it.
Mikey had gotten between them. Leo and Raph grabbed his arms. Donnie didn’t fight them.
He looked as shocked as they felt, stunned in a way that rounded his eyes and laxed his muscles.
He stared, as Casey helped her to her feet and took her to the kitchen. Motionless when they tried to find out what he was thinking, doing that to her.
“It worked,” He admitted, slow and soft. “I didn’t think it would work.”
