It had been 3 am at least, if not even later, when her phone lit up. A text in the middle of the night. She wasn't going to fall asleep anyway, not if the last two hours of trying meant anything, so she rolled over to reach her phone from her nightstand and sqeezed her eyes shut from the bright light. When her vision adjusted, her breath hitched. There was no contact name, but a number. However long it had been since deleting that number, Karlie could still recite it in her sleep. Too many years of calling from friends phones, losing her own and having to stand in a phone booth and calling when it the person on the other side was everything she needed. Too many years off dialing that number in the middle of the night, only coming to senses when it went straight to voicemail.

This is my story about Taylor and Karlie finding their way back to each other and choosing a life together. Told from both perspectives, it follows a second chance that grows into a family: two moms raising three kids, with three mischievous cats making themselves at home.
Between their careers and bedtime duty, they have a complicated past to work through. They won’t always get it right, but yes, this story is heading toward a happy ending.
I’m currently revising the existing chapters and replacing them with updated versions, so this fic is a little construction site for now. Once the revisions are complete, I definitely plan to continue writing new chapters. This family has made itself very comfortable in my head, and I have more of their story to tell.
