Silence surrounds, touched by darkness, bathed in green flames. Soft breaths, gentle and unhurried, break the bleak atmosphere ever so often, and when he allows himself to indulge, to lean in and hear the sounds, he finds himself smiling. They are so calm when sleeping, so peaceful. There is not a frown to be found on their faces, no tears or sweat lining their cheeks or brows. Instead, they lie in disarray, piled amongst each other in crumpled heaps on the floor.
They are resting. No one can touch them now, time cannot touch them now.

Perhaps giving her permission to do as she pleased in the midst of his vineyard wasn’t such a very good idea.
