“Maria?”
She shouts, wheeling around as her fingers instinctively form the position of her signature spell before she recognizes the voice as Alucard’s. It’s difficult to see in the dark, even when her eyes have long since adjusted, but he’s difficult to miss as he sits at the table, nursing a cup of God know’s what in his hands. She blinks rapidly. How had she not noticed him right away? She must have been more out of it than she thought. His head tilts in a way that mimicked feline curiosity, a searching expression on his face. “Couldn’t sleep?”
She meets Alucard’s eyes, noting the way that they seemed to glow in the dark, a sign of his ancestry, perhaps. She didn’t know, and right now she really didn’t care.
“W-Why are you sitting alone in the dark?” She asks instead of answering his question, though she regrets it the moment it leaves her mouth. He was a half-vampire, he probably could see in the dark just fine. “Nevermind. Don’t answer that,” she chooses to continue towards the cupboard. Unexpected company or not, she wanted her tea.
Maria tries to put herself back together once Richter leaves for Saint Domingue. Luckily, she's not alone. Not entirely
