Summary
There was a space, in the silence, where he could have said something; where Buck could have. Neither of them spoke.
Eddie moved again. He told himself he was just settling in, and maybe there was some truth to that, the indent of Buck's body in the mattress creating a sort of inevitable gravity, drawing Eddie in.

Summary
Hen is not quite sure how she got here: eye to eye with her best friend while her wife helps his step out of a green sundress.
"You dress up for us, pretty girl?" Karen murmurs, turning Maddie away from her to expose her to Hen and Chimney. She runs her hands up the bare skin of Maddie's sides between the delicate fabric.
Maddie's face heats with a blush that matches the babydoll color of her lingerie. "I told you they would like it," Chimney breathes.

Summary
"D'you know Eddie?" Buck asks. His eyes are huge and earnest. It's not often these days that Eddie gets to see him this unguarded. Just needed to get him stoned out of his mind on painkillers, apparently. He's probably got a prescription in that stack of papers Eddie took. Maybe Eddie can run out and fill it for him while he sleeps. "He's my best—my best friend."
Eddie's heart does something traitorously squishy that he hopes doesn't show on his face. "Feeling's mutual, bud. Come on, lie down, sleep it off for a little bit, okay?"

Or: Buck confesses something he doesn't mean to while on painkillers. Eddie spirals about it.

“Your safety is my priority right now. How long have you been thinking about this?” he repeats.
Eddie wants to tell him that it only happened yesterday, but then he thinks about quarantine, and when Shannon died, and when she left for LA after he was discharged, and when he found out Chris was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and when Shannon told him she was pregnant, and when he was ten and his dad yelled at him for crashing his new truck because his mom was in labor and nobody was around to take her to the hospital. He thinks about how he wanted to disappear every time, wished for something to kill him so that he didn’t have to face his fears, deal with reality. It hits him like his dad’s truck hit the tree.
“Since I was in elementary school,” he admits breathlessly.

Summary
So, this is what Buck really can’t wrap his head around. Being free to love Eddie openly and being loved by Eddie.
And the thing is, it isn’t weird. Or awkward, or anything someone might think their years of friendship would make this new relationship like. It is easy, natural. Buck used the word instinctive to describe it to Maddie when she asked him how they were faring.
Because loving Eddie is like breathing. Buck doesn't need to think about it. He isn’t questioning his every action—like he’d always done in his past relationships—for fear of being judged, or being left behind. Eddie makes it easy for him. And he really hopes he makes it easy for Eddie.or

Summary
Eddie looked over to Buck in the driver’s seat, who had been glancing over every two seconds to make sure Eddie was still breathing. Buck, who kept an extra jacket and snacks for Chris in his car, who modified the jeep to make it a little easier for Chris to climb in himself, who listened attentively while Chris debriefed them both about his school day at the kitchen table every other night. Who let Chris find his own way in the world, a constant supportive net with his hands clasped tight in Eddie’s instead of assuming he’d need constant help like damn near every adult in Christopher’s life.
Or, the four days following the well collapse.

“I’m just gonna get this really quick,” Buck says mildly.
Marvin opens his mouth but Buck’s already toggling on the radio.
“Go for Buck,” he replies, flattening his tone as much as possible.
“How’s it looking over there?”
Buck eyes the barrel of the gun staring him down, Marvin’s finger twitching over the trigger.
“All good, just wrapping up.”

“You’re sure Bobby doesn’t want me on the pulley? It’s kind of a tricky angle.”

“I know. We’ll be fine.” Buck murmurs, knocking his knuckles against Eddie’s stomach. “Worrier.”

They’ve been getting fewer and farther between, Eddie’s nightmares. Buck still waits. Partially out of habit, partially because the sound of Eddie breathing will always beat his unseeing eyes on the hot pavement, staring straight at Buck until he bolts up on the couch. Morning comes and they don’t talk about it.
On and on and on it goes.

Summary
When Helena and Ramon Diaz rush to Los Angeles after learning their son Eddie was shot, they’re unprepared for the life he’s built without them. Reeling from the revelation that Evan "Buck" Buckley—a man they’ve never met—is not only Eddie’s caregiver but Christopher’s legal guardian, their attempts to reclaim their place in their son’s life unravel into a clash of generations, values, and unspoken truths.
As Eddie recovers under Buck’s steadfast support, tensions ignite: Helena confronts her failures as a mother, Ramon grapples with Eddie’s bisexuality and distrust of tradition, and Christopher fiercely defends the only stability he’s ever known. With Isabel Diaz mediating and the 118 silently standing guard, the Diazes are forced to reckon with what family really means—and who gets to define it.

So about the other day…
Eddie stares at his text chain with Buck for a few seconds, then quickly deletes.
Sorry about the homoerotic vibes. MY BAD.
Delete.
I seem to be having some kind of quarter-life gay crisis. Which is funny because I’m currently starring on the world’s most heterosexual reality TV show. LOL.
Eddie groans and bangs his head against the back of the couch in his trailer a few times. Did people even say LOL anymore? Maybe he should ask Ravi.

Summary
He doesn’t want to go. There’s so much here for him—so much to fight for, but he’s been fighting for so long, and there’s only so much he can do when he’s pinned and bleeding steadily. There’s not much to fight anymore except God, and God’s seemingly made a choice.
And, just as Buck was finally starting to understand, too.
Sniffing, he asks, voice cracking, “Eddie?”
He’s scared. There’ve been so many close calls, but not quite as close as this, and he’s terrified, but there’s too much to say. Too much on the line. He can’t let the fear keep him quiet anymore. He’s wasted so much time on being afraid, and now he’s run out, and he just—
He needs Eddie to know.

Summary
Time feels as slow as dripping molasses, stretchy and malleable, with no rules attached. Eddie doesn't know how long he sits like that for, rubbing his eyes until he sees colorful shapes blooming in the darkness, but it's probably not too long if Buck hasn't started a conversation with him yet. From sound alone, Buck is currently vigorously rifling through their shared wardrobe, while humming a tune, some commercial jingle.
There was no point in splitting up the clothes, since they usually ended up mixed again just a few days later. Eddie doesn't care if the hoodie he is wearing that day is Buck's, or if he sees his favorite socks on Buck's feet. It feels nice to share a home, to offer something of his and be given back the same way. It settles something possessive in Eddie's chest, even if every time he steals something of Buck's Hen raises a trademarked Eyebrow™ at him, pity and exasperation in equal measures.
When Eddie deems enough time has passed for Buck to get dressed, he lets his hands flop to his lap, opens his eyes and- oh. Oh no.
Not only is Buck not dressed, he's not even wearing his towel.
