Summary
A small frown appears on Eddie’s face again as he quickly shakes his head, taking in Buck’s barely intelligible words.
“Buck, Bobby is fine,” he says, somehow understanding what Buck was trying to say, and he sounds so certain that for a moment, Buck stills.
“What?” he asks quietly.
“Bobby is fine,” Eddie repeats patiently, his thumb stroking Buck’s cheekbone. “Everyone’s fine.”
Or: The 8x15 fix-it in which the events in the lab are a nightmare Buck has, after which Bobby comes over to comfort him.

Summary
He’s had this dream before, hasn’t he? The déjà vu makes him dizzy; makes it easy to slip into another life. Turn left to see his parents, who look at him with so much care that it feels wrong. Turn right to see his brother, alive and pushy and everything he never knew he’d been longing for. Turn around to see himself, in a hospital bed, taunted by the miserable spectre of one of his favorite people on this earth.
Blue skies. Bobby is dead. None of this is real, and Buck finds himself breathing a little easier.
Now all he has to do is wake up.
Speculation for 8x15.

Summary
So in the middle of Eddie’s dining room, with his brain to mouth filter non-existent (as per usual), Buck blurts out, “Marry me.”
Eddie sits straight up, looking at him with eyes wide as saucers.
“Excuse me?”
“W-well, just think about it. If we get married I can add you and Chris to my insurance policy and that solves your problem.”
Eddie’s mouth forms a perfect little ‘o’. Buck waits patiently for the floor to open up and swallow him whole.
When the ground doesn’t do as he’d hoped he realizes he has to say something else. “Obviously, w-we don’t have to,” he’s quick to assure. “But if we did it would be platonic, of course, because you’re straight and–” he pauses, praying for another rogue stroke of lightning. Anything to put him out of his misery right now. “-and like I know that I’m bi now, but this wouldn’t be like that y’know? It would just be two friends helping each other out.” He’s rambling, the words won’t stop tumbling out. “Like a friends with benefits type situation! E-except you know not those kinds of benefits! Like actual benefits! Health and dental.”
or,
Eddie is moving to Texas, losing his insurance, and marrying Buck all very heterosexually and platonically.

Summary
And Buck can't breathe around the feeling that rises in his chest. It starts small, just a warmth, a flicker, but then it spreads and threatens to overwhelm him.
Because it's not just that Eddie looks beautiful. It's not just the way his voice wraps around Buck like tangible safety, or how that easy smile makes something in him ache. It's that this gentle, golden moment is everything Buck has ever wanted without even knowing it.
Just him.
Just Eddie.
And something in Buck cracks wide open. A truth spills out before he can stop it, soft like marshmallow but certain like stone.
"I love you.”
Oh, shit.
Or; Buck says I love you over FaceTime, hangs up, spirals, flies to El Paso and gets his man.

Eddie goes then, opening the front door with arms full of tiny waters. He bumps it open with his hip, turning back to call one more time to Chris.
“Move it bud! We’ve gotta go in three minutes if you want to— oof”
Eddie stumbles as he runs into something large in his doorway. Something warm. Something… Buck shaped.
“Woah, ok, ok I’ve got you,” the Buck shaped obstacle says, steadying him and his waters as Eddie just… stares at him. Frozen. He's pretty sure he's hallucinating Buck being in Texas again.

Summary
Eddie’s never had someone like Buck before. He’s never felt like this around anyone else, too, like his body knows he’s safe before his mind does. There are the things that are muscle memory: shoulder bumps and taps on the arm, the way Eddie keeps looking over his shoulder and being surprised that Buck is right there. Buck fills up all the empty spaces in Eddie’s life, if not his memories.
Eddie wakes up in Texas, missing eight years of his memory. He doesn't think anything is different until his best friend from Los Angeles shows up.

Summary
He’d kissed Buck. The thought had plagued him so much in El Paso, he just got so caught up in everything, he'd forgotten for a second that—
“Fuck. We… uh.” Eddie swallows hard around the lump in his throat, jaw working as he lifts his gaze to Buck. Buck’s staring off into the distance, eyes wide, mouth open, solid as a statue.“...We don't do that yet.” Eddie croaks.
Buck seems to come back to himself a little, and his eyes snap to Eddie’s. They're intense.
“No,” Buck replies, a flush on his face, “No, we don't.”

Raphael’s trying his best not to be nosy, but his eyes land on Eddie’s screen anyway, and he huffs out a quiet laugh. “My wife sends me stuff like that, too. I don’t know where she finds it.”
“If she’s anything like Buck, she’s got the oddity section on AP News bookmarked.”
Eddie’s card makes a soft little beep as he taps it against the machine, and Raphael smiles at him as he tears the receipt off and hands it over. “How long have y’all been together?”

“Since when?” Eddie frowns. “You used to love oranges.”
Christopher shrugs. “I don’t like them anymore.”
And that’s fine, really. Tastes change. Christopher doesn’t have to like oranges.
It’s just that he does. Christopher loves oranges. Christopher has loved oranges since the first time he tasted one, Eddie watching on over a shaky video call from the desert.Or, Eddie knows his kid, and his kid loves oranges. “I asked Josh out,” Buck admits.
It’s cartoonish how quickly Eddie’s jaw drops; how his eyes bulge out of his head. Buck rubs the back of his neck, sheepish, waiting for him to say something.
There’s still silence.
Buck frowns at his screen. “Eddie? Hello? I think you froze.”
“I’m here,” Eddie says slowly, eyes still comically wide. “I just think I might have misheard you.”
“Oh,” Buck says, and repeats himself. “I asked Josh out.”
“Okay. So I didn’t mishear you.” Eddie scrubs a hand over his face. “Can I ask why?”
Or: Maddie nudges Buck towards Eddie, Buck misunderstands horribly, and Eddie suffers over FaceTime.

Summary
“Have you considered the possibility that Neil has chosen you, but believes you have not chosen him?” Renee says. "Have you ever explicitly told him what you want?”
“Neil knows what I want,” Andrew snaps. This is not Andrew’s fault.
“How do you know?”
Because Neil always knows. He is as fluent in Andrew’s micro-expressions as he is in German and French. He knows which head tilts mean “go on” and which ones mean “shut up.” Without ever asking, he learned what it meant to see Andrew wearing double layers of long sleeves, or taking multiple showers in a day, and learned to hand Andrew the car keys.
That has always been the most terrifying thing about Neil — his patience to wait, watch, listen, learn. The prospect that if Neil were given enough time, there would be no part of Andrew that was just Andrew’s anymore.
“He has to know,” Andrew says.
“Does he?” Renee says. “Have you ever known Neil to assume that he is wanted?”
Five times Neil tells someone that he and Andrew aren’t dating, and one time Andrew uses his words to set the record straight.

Summary
Eddie listens to the voicemail later. Buck sounds like he’s at a grocery store, absentmindedly talking into the phone. “Oh, I guess you’re with your sisters. Sorry to miss you. I just wanted to tell you about this call we had last night, but I gotta hear your reactions, so, later. Okay, uh, I guess I’ll just call back. Or text.”
It ends abruptly, without a goodbye. Eddie replays it a second time, closes his eyes as he sits in the truck. For a moment, he can pretend Buck is sitting in the passenger seat next to him. For a moment, Eddie is back in Los Angeles and his best friend is dragging him through the grocery store.
The voicemail ends, Eddie opens his eyes, and the fantasy breaks. Eddie is still in El Paso, parked in front of the house he’s renting, and there’s no one in the passenger seat with him.
Eddie moves to Texas. Buck moves into his house. There's a love story somewhere in here.

Eddie takes a slow sip of his coffee, nudging the second cup in Buck’s direction. “So…”
Buck grins, picking up the mug. “So.”
“I went to make breakfast this morning,” Eddie says casually, slowly, “thought about making eggs.”
Buck nods, not really following Eddie’s tone of voice. “Eggs sound good.”
“Went to the fridge to get the eggs…” Eddie walks in that direction, and Buck follows his gaze. His eyes land on the calendar, and he stills.
“And I saw this on the calendar.” He flicks it twice. “Kind of hard to miss it.”

After logging out of Reddit for the night, Edie Diaz switched over to the tab labeled ‘Inbox (1)’ and was faced with a name she didn’t recognise.
Evan Buckley | Subject: Hey :)
Her grandchild had warned her countless times about internet safety and how older people are more susceptible to being scammed. She opened it anyway.

Summary
It’s a terrible idea. It’s arguably the worst idea he’s ever had. Worse than when Buck thought abstaining for a month means his sperm would be superpowered– but at least it’s below giving yourself bangs before barging into someone’s house and pretending to be the guy’s dead wife.
No, Eddie is gonna be the angriest, bitchiest, living husband who just got cheated on with instagram user Rafael102017, who happens to be very big on monogamy and fidelity.
Or, Chris has a bold admirer, Buck has a date with a strange man, and Eddie is apparently the extraction team for both of them out of these situations.
Or, if Eddie had a nickel for every awkward romantic encounter his boys had today, he'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”
