Summary
Thirteen years after the fall of Skalitz, Henry returns to a world changed—and to Hans Capon, who has changed even more, a shadow of the man Henry once knew. What begins as a quiet reunion becomes a slow, painful reckoning: of choices made, futures lost, and the kind of love that never truly dies.
It is a story of quiet devotion, of one man returning not to reclaim, but to remind. Together they help each other find meaning again—not through grand gestures, but through presence, memory, and the courage to mourn.Bookmarked by rebvilla

Summary
After a poison steal Hans of his memories of the previous years, he wakes with a wife he doesn't remember marrying and a toddler he doesn't know.
There is also something he cannot figure out about his bodyguard.
Hans first noticed the man during his recovery, a strong figure who never seemed to leave his side. He carried himself like a soldier, though his posture was looser than the guards at the gate, and his tongue far less disciplined. He spoke to Hans with a boldness that bordered on insolence, his words more fitting for a comrade than for a servant.
In time, stern words and the reminder of position were enough to put him in his place, and his boldness was curbed. Still, the unease lingered. Hans could not recall ever appointing Henry, nor why the man seemed to look at him as though mourning something unspoken.

Summary
“You were right. When you said no one could be proud of me.”
Henry closes his eyes. The bed frame soaked up the fire's warmth, a compress pressed along his side. The flame sputters, cracks.
“I was angry. And I couldn’t have possibly meant it, when I know it’s not true.”

Summary
Please, God, guide my horse, make sure I'm not too late. Silent prayers slipped through his lips, his eyes narrowed as he snapped the reins on his horse, which let out a high-pitched squeal. The air whipped around his helmet, and the landscape gave way around him, turning into a blur of colors and wasted time. His grip tightened on smooth leather and his knuckles grew white as his teeth clenched. He doubted that God would even be listening to his prayers, he had probably already been cast down into the bellows of hell. Lucifer with his claws tightly wrapped around Henry's soul, tainting his heart as the thunderous sound of hoofs clashing down against the cobblestone did nothing to distract him from the thought of who was awaiting him, Hans. It may be time to start praying to the Devil to help me arrive at my deliverance. My temptress. My sinful love.
I love you too, Hans Capon of Rattay. And I shall be the one to bring you home, Henry's thoughts faltered as his horse came up the side of a mountain and could see the fortress beneath the mountainside swarming with Prague soldiers, or be buried by your side.

Summary
The silence settled between them, Gale’s expression softening, the realization of Astarion’s torment dawning in his eyes. “Astarion…” he murmured, thoughtful, his voice dropping to something close to reverence. “This… urge—it isn’t your own?
It’s… involuntary? It’s like in the cave, right? With the pollen?” Gale’s voice was steady, but there was a certain knowing edge to it, a familiarity that made Astarion’s shoulders tense.
He straightened, caught off-guard. “How would you know?”

Summary
“I don’t really think there’s a true name for what I am,” Gale admits, looking sheepish, “But I have named it, myself. If that’s interesting to you.”
“Of course I’m interested, Gale, I’m here.” He’s asking.
“I… call it Portentus Castificare. An omen of punishment,” Gale says, eyes on his hands where they rest in his lap.
“Is it that bad?” Astarion cajoles, hoping to earn another smile somehow or other.
“It’s certainly… monstrous. And the hunger, when its yawning void opens within me, is… almost insatiable. And quite painful. This… this body, what you’ve come to recognize as me… it’s a facsimile of the man I was before, as best as I could recreate it. But I died that day, I think. It absorbed me just as I absorbed it,” Gale does smile, but it’s a sad one.

Summary
/tolerance to a poison acquired by taking gradually increased doses of it/
The wizard's blood is toxic. Remarkable how repetition turns horrors mundane.
Or, to expound: The wizard of Waterdeep reeks of poison and weed, and Astarion can’t help himself on either count. Luckily, Gale considers any and all forms of experimentation, no matter how virulent, to be fruitful. Things escalate in every possible direction over a series of well-wasted camp nights.

Summary
A remix of Act 2 in which Gale gets more of a character arc resolution.
“Gods damn it Gale!”
Astarion leaps over him. The guard, poised to land an entirely excessive final blow to Gale’s skull, topples backwards with a knife in his gut. The second pierces his neck, sending him crashing to the ground. Astarion yanks his blades back, and drops to his knees beside Gale.
“Oh no no no, you are not dying on me now.”
Gale attempts to express something, but it comes out as a gurgle of bloody bubbles. The world swings to the side, black and spinning.
“I swear, if it turns out I did just watch you spend the last of your magic sending your cat back to safety instead of saving your own damn skin-”
The threat remains unfinished. A healing potion trickles between Gale’s lips.
“Tressym,” Gale says, when he can finally trust his voice.
Astarion is still crouched over him, cheeks flushed, sweat running down his brow and someone else’s blood smeared across his cheek. Gale has the sudden urge to kiss him.
“What?”
“She’s a tressym. Not a cat.”
Astarion makes a noise of such furious, pained exasperation that Gale half expects the dagger to end up in his neck next.Series
