    Summary

You don't like talking to people. You don't like how they look at you like you did something wrong by just existing. The man in your closet is different. He doesn't think what you say is odd, because he doesn't know what you say. You don't know what he says either. It's perfect. especially when you can't handle the pressures of the end of the world.

    Summary

A look at Henry and Hans's relationship through the lens of sacks (or: Five times Hans struggles to express his feelings and the one time he succeeds).

“Why?” Hans scoffs. “Because I’m useless? A piece of noble scenery, good for a wedding or a ransom and nothing fucking else. If only I was a blacksmith’s boy, right? Or a Jew. No one would think twice about having me along then. We’d go off on this ridiculous suicide mission, and if I got caught, it wouldn’t fucking matter.”
Henry snorts. “That’s the dumbest thing that’s ever come out of your mouth. And I have a damned long list.” He takes a step forward, eyes liquid in the orange candlelight. “What do you think happens to soldiers in war, my Lord? To the peasants, and the bastards, and the blacksmith’s boys? The ones without blue blood and silver armour?”
    “I –” Hans swallows. “I suppose –”
“No one has to worry about them getting ransomed, aye. But that’s because they get fucking killed instead. They get stabbed and gutted. Shot. Beheaded. Hanged.” Henry huffs a breath. Gentles. “I’m sure you’d make a fair corpse, Sir Hans, but I’d rather not test that theory.”

5 times Henry saved Hans, and one time Hans repaid him

A pain overcame Hans’s heart. It was confusing, to feel so much for someone else. If Henry was a lass, perhaps this was the love that bards sang about in taverns. A painful thought that he couldn’t, or really, shouldn’t entertain.

    Summary

Henry playfully wrestles him to the ground, and their laughter shakes the trees. This is what life ought to be: easy and sweet and without any past or future. The rest of the world can hang for all Hans cares; all he wants is to make Henry laugh, and to turn him every shade of red possible.

“Shut up or I'll fill you up,” Henry threatens. “I’ll get a strong son on you.”

Something flutters in Hans’s chest. “I'm not a fucking maid, Henry.” He struggles a little more, just for show, and Henry pins his hands above his head.

“Could be,” Henry counters, grinning. “My maid, my girl, the way you take me.”

    -

In which Henry helps Hans forget about his upcoming nuptials, a wedding night is shared, and Hans yearns to become something other than what he is.

    Summary

Dez looked at him incredulously, “are you suggesting-”

Cal cut her off, “yes, if Deacon and I were to pretend to be married, they wouldn’t be able to object to me bringing him up to the Prydwen. From there he could hack into their systems and hopefully locate the kidnapped synths.”

Great, just great. Disguises and infiltration, Deacon could do. But pretending to have feelings for someone while simultaneously making it clear that he didn’t actually have feelings for them? That wasn’t exactly something they covered in acting school. Not that he had ever gone to one, but still.
