Summary
Renjun looks at Mark so much, he begins to feel like he knows him as well as his own reflection in a mirror. Some days, Mark stares past Renjun like he can hardly stand to look at him. Some days, his gaze is soft, and falls upon Renjun like the first few gentle flakes of snow.
When Renjun feels affection for him like this, he knows he paints him better. He thinks maybe it hurts them both, every time he brings the brush to the canvas.

When Jinhou turns 13, she learns very quickly to ask Mark permission for everything. When she asks Renjun, it turns into, “When will you be home? Who else is going to be there? Are those boys going? I don’t like them. Can’t you do something here with just Eunchae and Haruna? Those are nice girls, you should spend your time with nice girls!”
But when she asks Mark, she gets, “Uhhhh, sure!”
Renjun has been training to be a parent his entire life. Mark still has to remind himself that the teenage girl that lives in his house isn’t some guest they have over, but his daughter.

renjun turns towards mark, hits his arm accusingly, and points to the top button of his shirt, undone to expose a slutty peek of neck.
“where’s your…” dog collar. “your thingy?”
“my thingy is at home,” mark says, nonchalant. “so what’s your relationship to the grooms?”
renjun snorts. God, what isn’t his relationship to the grooms? “I’m the maid of honor. well, best man, but donghyuck is really the girl in the relationship, so maid of honor.”
mark smirks. “cute."

it starts as renjun watches donghyuck run from the sidelines into chenle’s arms, her legs kicking up behind her as chenle picks her up and spins her around, her squeals heard even in the loud gymnasium.
or it starts when renjun’s practice schedule overlaps with every single one of mark’s games, and she basically won’t get to see her play all season.

Summary
By the end of the day, Renjun must finish three impossible tasks. Convince the CRA to let him take over his parents’ laundromat. Finally host his father’s memorial. And get Mark Lee to break up with him.
Renjun has never been one for accomplishing the impossible, his life up until now boring and predestined. His parents left home for this quiet town in Canada when he was 7. He did two years at the community college to get a humble Associates Degree. He’s spent endless days watching dryers spin around and around. He’s never accomplished the impossible, and he hasn’t accomplished much else either.
He tells himself that this is the way it has to be. Some people just don’t get to have a story. Some people are meant to be stressed about money, and have the same conversations with their mom over and over, and spend their life thinking about what they could have done instead.
The most interesting thing that has ever happened to him is Mark, but that has to end now.
Until Mark is suddenly telling Renjun that he's from another universe, and to trust no one.
Renjun’s life here is supposed to be boring. That doesn’t mean it is boring everywhere else.

“No,” Renjun clarifies. “We just get dinner alone twice a week, always see new movies together, text each other good morning and goodnight on nights when he doesn’t stay over, he tells me I’m the cutest person he knows, he wants me to meet his parents, we’ve named our future kids together, and sometimes he writes poems for me. he shrugs. “nothing.” but he’s smirking.
mark whines, hitting renjun’s arm. “no, tell me.”

“I asked Mark to kill someone for me. And then, of course, I asked someone to kill him. You know how it goes.”
“What do you need me for?”
“Well, Mark got away. And he took something I want. So I need you to find him.”
“Okay.”
“And kill him.”
Donghyuck can’t say he didn’t expect this. Donghyuck can’t say he hasn’t been waiting for someone to use his closeness to Mark Lee to finally end his reign. He’s not surprised Jaemin would be the first person to get that bold.
“Can you do it?” Jaemin asks, brushing some of Donghyuck’s hair back. “Or do I need to find someone else?”
Donghyuck reflexively grabs Jaemin’s wrist, forcing his hand away. Jaemin raises an eyebrow at him, smirking with a forgone conclusion.
“No,” Donghyuck decides, humiliatingly. “I can do it.”
Jaemin steps closer to him, pressing himself up against Donghyuck completely. “Good,” he whispers against Donghyuck’s lips, and Donghyuck feels his jaw open despite himself, wanting nothing more than-

Donghyuck wants nothing more than to kill Jaemin with his bare hands.
