Even convincing his dad to let him go to Eddie’s place instead of theirs felt like an uphill battle, so for his dad to actually allow him to go to a bar like he was a normal kid was a miracle.

His brother grinned and nodded. “Yeah! Do you wanna play dominoes with me and my new friend, Jeff?”
Buck moved to sit down at the table with them, putting down the waters, and holding out a hand to introduce himself to the man.
He froze when the man turned to face him and he found himself staring into the eyes of Jeffery Hudson.

Bobby clenched his jaw as the zip ties were tightened around his wrists.
The men who had taken over the firehouse had done so quickly and efficiently, guns drawn and not taking no for an answer.
Bobby knew there was a protocol for this, and he hoped that all of his firefighters were able to stay calm and just let the men grab whatever they came here for, probably some of the drugs from the ambulance. He’d heard of groups attempting to do that at different firehouses around the country before.
Although they weren’t typically this organized.

“The Easter Bunny is a bitch,” Chim declared, and started to march toward the firehouse gym, loudly calling Eddie’s name, seemingly forgetting about Bobby.
Something… weird was going on here.

Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to go in for just a second. He was sure he would regret it if Buck didn’t… Eddie shook his head, unable to think about that possibility and stood up, making his way toward the room.
A room with Buck in it should never be silent, should never feel empty. It shouldn’t feel devoid of light and love and hope, because Buck embodied all of those things. A room with Buck should feel like stepping directly into the path of sunshine, it should warm you to your very core.
The hospital room felt like all happiness had been drained from the world.

The person who grabbed him dragged him backwards, away from his home, away from safety. He struggled against the hold, but was unable to get free.
"Sorry, Evan,” Buck froze as the man addressed him by name. This wasn’t a random kidnapping. He was targeted.

Buck froze, fear pounding in his heart. What if they called Athena just to make her listen to Buck die? He couldn’t do that to his mom. He would rather the robbers just shoot him where he stood than put his mother through any trauma again.
“Here’s what’s gonna happen,” the man whispered into Buck’s ear. “You’re gonna tell me her number now, or Tony is going to blow your boyfriend’s brains out. I’d really hate for us to have to decorate this lovely diner with his blood.”
Buck swallowed roughly. He should have kissed Eddie outside of the diner.

He got out of bed quietly, grabbing his phone from his side table. Hopefully, the noise from the kitchen was just Chris getting a snack. He pushed open the door to their bedroom slowly. Maybe it was silly, but Buck had a bad feeling in his gut as he stepped into the hallway clutching his phone tightly in his hand.
