Summary
There’s no marriage left to salvage. Shannon left him two years ago, and whatever fragile hope he was holding onto, whatever flickered in their bed two days ago, died the moment she recognised Buck.
But that’s not what he tells Buck.
“Right,” Eddie says, shifting his weight, crossing his arms across his chest. “And Shannon’s back, I mean you saw her the other day, so we’re gonna—” Eddie takes a breath. “—try again. And me and you can, you know, move on.”
Buck indulges in a threesome with a married couple in El Paso, Texas. Two years later, Eddie Diaz joins the 118. Buck really wishes those two facts weren’t related.

Summary
“This your first commercial flight or something?”
“With you, yeah.” Buck’s grin widens, playful now, the earlier panic tucked safely away. “What, no commemorative gift?”
Eddie glances down at their joined hands—Buck’s fingers still loosely tangled with his, thumb still stroking the skin there. “Permanent custody of my hand ain’t cutting it for you?”
Or, Buck gets over his fear of flying, and joins the Mile High Club. Exactly in that order.

Summary
“Oh.” The new toothpick is already sliding into Eddie’s mouth, making itself at home. Buck’s fingers had held it a moment ago. “Y’know, I didn’t— never realised you did that. W–with your mouth.”
“Did wha— Oh,” Eddie catches on mid-word, shrugs. “Yeah. Childhood habit, I guess. Thought I kicked it years ago but…”
“You do it a lot,” Buck blurts, then wants to saw his own tongue off.
It all starts with Eddie performing fellatio on a ringpop.

Summary
And, well.
It keeps happening.
Buck invites: a dinner, a game, a just swing by, man.
Eddie dodges: laundry, groceries, whatever comes first before his mouth can betray him by saying I can’t be inside your house.

Summary
“Catwoman, huh?” Buck’s eyes flick down again, snagging on the shape of Eddie’s torso. “Yeah, you’re, uh, pulling it off. But, uh…”
Buck straightens, licks his lips, voice shifting to something practiced, polite, and extremely strange to Eddie’s ears. “Look, you seem cool, and that suit’s... heh, working, but I’m— I’m not really doing the whole hookup thing anymore."
The words don’t register at first—then they do, and the world tilts, grin falling right off his face.
Buck doesn’t know it’s him.
Buck doesn’t know it’s Eddie.

Summary
So, here's the thing. Civil War happened and I was not happy about what happened with Tony.
I am still not happy, and will continue to not be happy; therefore, I shall project said unhappiness through these fics.

Summary
“Now that is a handsome man.”
The first thing Hen notices about New Recruit Eddie Diaz is that he is in possession of a remarkable set of abdominal muscles. The next thing she notices is the wedding ring.
And Buck is staring at him like a piece of meat.
“Oh, nuh-uh,” she says immediately. “Don’t even think about it, Buckley.”
or, Eddie is new, and married, and Buck won’t stop flirting. 5+1.

Bookmarker's Notes
so i LOVE reading non-buddie pov fics--i find them quite daunting myself because i always worry about nailing the characterisation, so i have DOUBLE respect anyone who tackles it AND embodies the character so so amazingly. hen's pov for this was, to put it simply, PERFECT. PERFECT!!!! the perfect mix of her perceptive skills, having buck and eddie's best interests at heart, her little shenanigans, and god. the humour. THE HUMOUR. i have to say i found myself cheesing throughout the fic, but i genuinely laughed out loud at the +1 bit. the way it played out? CINEMA.
i love love loved the moments/dialogues exchanged between her and chimney, god they just get each other!! they really are the best of friends!! so many moments where i found myself so endeared by them, like:
“So, Eddie,” she says. “You’ve been here a month, but I feel like we don’t know all that much about you.”
...
...
Chimney, who is Hen’s partner and best friend for a reason, catches onto what she’s doing immediately, and casually kicks his feet up on the coffee table, crossing ankles. “Well, what’s life like for you outside the firehouse? Wife? Kids?”
THEY'RE SO!!!! PERFECTLY NOSY AND MADE FOR EACH OTHER!!! god. i really enjoyed this fic so much, just the perfect lighthearted crack to lift my spirits which is why i know for a FACT i'm gonna come back to this soon

Summary
It’s not ideal, being dead. He can’t bake, he can’t take a shower, he can’t go to work. And he can’t tell Eddie he loves him.
It occurred to him in the too-fast flash of a second it took to fall 48 feet into the fiery subfloor full of rubble, glass, and rebar.
Oh, Eddie.
Not ideal at all.
or: Buck is haunting Eddie's house. That's not the end of the story.

oh my god. my god my god my god. at multiple points during this fic i had to press a fist to my mouth and take a minute. woooow. buck's internal dialogue is so beautiful and yet so so gut wrenching. it made me think of this trope we sometimes see in buddie fics, the one where buck tends to get lost in his head, spiralling to the point he feels like an outsider to the diaz boys. he's unsure of his place in their lives--he knows he's loved, but does he belong?--unsure of who he is to chris except for Backup Dad, and now here, in this fic, it's his worst fear come to life: his entire being tethered to the house, and yet he only exists as a spectator to their lives. he spent so long fearing he's just a superficial(?) presence only for him to ultimately become one. god. and yet, after putting me through all this, you still brought this to the softest satisfying end. ughh. thank you <3
special mention to this tidbit because i couldn't help but AWW :( out loud:
“Ask me something only I would know,” Buck says soundlessly, giving the planchette a little shove.
“Okay,” Eddie sits up a little straighter. “Ask him something only he would know, something the two of you didn’t do together.”
My beloved skeptic, Buck thinks.
one of my fav examples on how well they know each other UGHHH. my pookies

Summary
He just doesn’t get it. These men like Lee (like Andrew and Dave and Rory), they make it seem so easy. Taking what they covet, expressing their desire. Like it’s the most simple thing in the world, to touch Eddie, kiss Eddie, slither their way inside Eddie; to make it absolutely clear how bad they want him. And he knows Buck wants him just as bad, maybe worse than anyone else; he can see it, feel it, taste it in the air that surrounds him, in the rapacious looks he levels him. He knows Buck wants him. He’s sure of it. So why can’t he just say it? Why can’t he just take it?
What is he waiting for? For Eddie to no longer be available? For the chance of having him to diminish to less than zero? Because that will simply never happen. Look at him, under some handsome stranger as he lets him take him home, swapping spit, grinding hips, and still he’s thinking of Buck.

i keep coming back to this fic because this is hands down the hottest thing i've ever read. so many times where i just find myself holding my breath from how INTENSE it gets. wow. eddie who gets taken care of and praised and fucked the way he deserves, how absolutely INSANE eddie is to call buck in the middle of this--what was he expecting!!!!--and how buck is even more insane to stay on call!!!! my god. you always leave me speechless with your writing but somehow the combination of these tropes has resulted in actual physical reactions in me. bated breath. heart pounding. thighs clenched. lauren i'm on my knees thanking you for feeding us eddiegirls with this

Summary
Maddie says, “What's this about a meth lab?”
“Buck has a crackpot theory,” says Eddie, and he can’t keep the fondness out of his voice.
“No, no, okay, listen,” says Buck, grinning at Eddie. “The guy down the street from Eddie is definitely running a meth lab.”
“This is the fourth meth lab he’s uncovered this week,” Eddie interjects. “Since he did that toxic substances training.”
—
In which Buck and Eddie do a little off-the-books detective work, a science project, and a lot of flirting.

had the time of my life reading this wow!!! the dialogues, the banter, the quick wit between them--it all felt sooo natural i'm in loveee. had so many favourite scenes but i think my favourite part had to be the conversation about digging through the trash while also Not Really Talking About The Trash, it was done so well! also this:
“Next thing you know he’ll be stockpiling fertilizer. No one needs that much fertilizer, Eddie.”
“I don’t know,” says Eddie thoughtfully. “Seems like you’re pretty full of shit.”
lovelovelove!!!!

Summary
He should be glad of it. He doesn’t want people to know he’s struggling, and they don’t. But why doesn’t Buck know? He’s always known, always seen through Eddie’s carefully constructed walls and carved himself a door into them. Even when Eddie resisted, even when he pushed back, Buck ducked his head and shoved through and found the tender hurt Eddie was guarding, cupped his hands around it and held until it didn’t ache so much.
And now Eddie’s bleeding internally, swollen with regret, and Buck doesn’t say a thing. Eddie can’t ask him to. If he opens his mouth, he might just start screaming.
~
There's distance between Eddie and Buck. Eddie isn't falling apart. These are two equally true statements.
