Summary
The first time Richie thinks about killing someone is a few months after the incident in the sewers, when he's woken by a nightmare.
There’s a sensation, viscous and dark, that rolls down his spine, and makes him drive his teeth together as his fingers twist in the sheets on his bed. He doesn’t yet recognize it for possessiveness, but he’s close enough to understanding it when he thinks of taking Sonia out of the picture, sweeping Eddie away in some grand, macabre gesture. Like a fairytale.
Like a knight in shining armour.
Richie’s going to make everything right in the world again, and he’s going to do it just for Eddie, who he loves so much it hurts.

Summary
Eddie loves his job, he really does. Even with all the shit a group of twenty-six ten year-olds can throw at him, he still loves what he does. Really, the parents are far worse than the kids, too many of them fitting the stereotypical mold of what an obnoxious LA parent is. He rarely interacts with them face-to-face, most discussion passing through the middlemen of their nannies and drivers, or via incessant emails about their uniquely-named child’s dietary restrictions. His actual students aren’t even the cause for at least half of the issues that plague him as a teacher at a private Los Angeles elementary school. Most of them are well-mannered, capable, socially aware kids, if not a little spoiled thanks to their environment.
But then there’s Little Miss Peggy Tozier.

Summary
When Richie was young, very young, he remembers wondering what sex with his bondmate would be like. It would come as no surprise to anyone around him that he’s been idly curious about sex since before he really learned how to tie his shoes, but it goes deeper than that in ways he doesn’t think he could ever explain to anyone else. His parents used to coo over the feeling when they thought he wasn’t listening: the certainty of knowing this person was yours forever, the pleasure of being inside of someone’s head, feeling what they felt. The knowledge that this person would love you despite whatever they might find inside of you.
And then Richie had met Eddie at the ripe old age of ten whole years old and felt the way something in his chest clicked into place, and he stopped being terrified of someone else seeing the hurried mess of his thoughts. He’d felt the tentative press of Eddie’s mind against his and wondered how he’d ever lived without this.
He wonders the same thing now, forty years old, knees spread wide on the bed in the shitty Townhouse, Eddie kneeling behind him for the first time in nearly three decades.
