Summary
In the spring of 1983, Steve Harrington starts seeing and hearing things he shouldn’t.
A nail-studded bat and flashing lights. Children’s high, bickering voices. Lapping blue water, chlorine, and guilt. Moments from a life he hasn’t lived crash into him without warning, vivid enough to leave him shaking.
Steve might be losing his mind, but he's certain of one thing: Barbara Holland is going to die. Before the year is out, someone – or something – is going to murder her. So he does the only logical thing – he attempts to befriend her. It's easier to save someone if you're standing next to them, right?
Setting out to save Barb is supposed to make things make sense.
Instead, it causes Steve to question everything he thought he knew. The visions keep coming. And the more Steve tries to fix things, the more uncertain the world around him becomes. Especially when it comes to Eddie Munson – someone Steve can’t quite explain. Someone who feels different than he should, heavier somehow, as if the future itself is pulling Steve toward him. A gravity Steve is certain wasn't there before.

Summary
When Hargrove's fist collided with Steve's cheek, he lost his stance, fell back onto his ass, and ended up pulling the fridge door with him. Steve expected another punch, or a kick to the stomach. Everything was quiet—scary quiet. He blinked his eyes open, his head throbbing, as he looked up at Hargrove, who stood before him, his eyes wide and his chest undulating rapidly.
Then, Steve’s eyes trailed down to the Demodog, wrapped in the blanket that was now lying on the floor between his legs. Its mouth and body were all exposed. Steve’s breath hitched, and when he looked up, Hargrove was staring at him.
"Harrington," Hargrove said, his eyes darkening and his pupils blown wide in disbelief, "what the fuck is that?"

But then by some sick twist of fate, Billy didn’t die. Getting stabbed all over by some giant mind-controlling monster didn’t do him in. Instead- according to Max- a bunch of people who apparently knew all about the so-called Mindflayer swooped in and brought him to a private military base where they saved Billy’s life.
They called it a miracle.
