Coughs break up the customer’s request, and the woman pulls down her mask. Amanda’s thoughts fly wildly: she thinks of the recent pandemic, and perhaps the person is sick or being cautious; oh, the midnight stranger is quite pretty, and Amanda liked the red lipstick on her lips. Anyhow, it never hurts to be careful, and the last thing she wants is someone getting her sick—
Then, in a chilling moment, Amanda catches a glimpse of white, unusually sharp canine teeth, and her perception of the situation sharply turns.

“Aspirin?” Angela asks, puzzled and mildly concerned that her girlfriend was taking a blood thinner. “When did you start taking aspirin?”
Amanda sends Angela a grin. “Just recently. Well, I’ll only take it once in a blue moon. It depends.”
Angela shakes her head. “Ya not gonna prevent heart attacks taking it that infrequently.”
“You’re correct,” Amanda states, sliding over to her partner to gently cusp their face. “It won’t. And I don’t need to take it. But it will make this more enjoyable for you.” Both of her thumbs were now resting atop Angela’s bottom lip, exposing her razor-sharp canines, and Amanda watched as Angela’s eyes switched from confusion to wide with wonder, eyes darting between Amanda’s hands and the smug expression that Amanda had plastered on her face.
