"Are you scared?" Jeongguk asks, and though his tone is gentle, the subtle tilt of his lips forms a grin that shows what little sympathy he'd have if Jimin actually were. "It would be natural to be afraid of someone who could do something like this," he points out, motioning to the body on the slab.
"Allegedly," Jimin corrects in an unimpressed monotone. "You are maintaining your innocence, after all."
That smile widens, showing teeth.
"Of course," Jeongguk agrees with an incline of his head, the mask he takes on exuding charm when he agrees, "Allegedly."

As bodies begin to pile up, the investigation leads him to someone already close to the case.

“I could come take him anytime I wanted.” Jungkook says.
“I know.” Jimin agrees, refusing to poke an angry bear that truly holds enough power to do anything he wants.
“It would be a fucking walk in the park. You know that, right? No matter where you go or try to hide, I can find you. A snap of my fingers and I’m at your front door. I could waltz right in and take my son and there’s nothing you could do about it.” Jungkook says with a slight growl, angry and displeased.
“Yes.”
“But I don’t do any of that.” Jungkook eventually adds, something soft and vulnerable to the tone of his voice. “You know why?”
“Why?” Jimin asks.
“Because I'm weak.” Jungkook speaks so quietly that Jimin almost misses it, hardly a whisper.
Jimin abandons his mate and the only life he’s ever known—an innocent baby in his belly, a dagger in his heart, and nowhere to go—reducing himself to a life on the run, spending every moment terrified of the demons that lurk in the shadows and wait for the chance to devour him.
He learns that sometimes things have to shatter into a million, mangled pieces in order to grow back together again, two souls ordained by the stars unable to stay apart for long.

Jimin blinks, “uhm ––– nothing,” he stammers, “just curious,” the blond says quietly, mostly to himself, lost in his thoughts for a moment. “Alright, bye, hyung,” he snaps out of it, hurried and slightly flustered as he leaves the room, feeling his friend's curious eyes on himself. Why the hell is he flustered? He really is just curious ––– for the sake of his children. That’s all. The fact that said young and dedicated teacher has the prettiest eyes he's ever seen does not faze him at all.
or: Jimin wasn't looking for love when he moved to Seoul. He simply wanted a fresh start for both himself and his children. Destiny, however, seems to have other plans.
