"Wouldn’t get too close if I was you,” Riggs says as Jesse edges up towards them, just on the other side of a streak of red spray paint on the concrete.
As if on cue the shifter with green scales moves like lightning, faster than Jesse can follow with his eyes. He snarls at the end of his chain, claws swiping at empty air scarcely an inch from Jesse’s face. His bares his teeth, hissing. He’s furious.
He’s beautiful. Another inch and he’d have slit Jesse’s throat. Arousal surges through him unbidden, all twisted up with shame; these two have been through enough already without Jesse ogling them, but he can’t help himself. His wires have always been crossed like that.
Fear comes, as it often should, but it rarely comes alone.

‘Your legs are so long,’ Legolas says. He hasn’t lain down again.
Aragorn nods. He isn’t committed to a conversation. He is listening to the rain. It’s been a long time since he was last in company. He keeps forgetting to speak or even acknowledge Legolas’s existence.
‘What are you thinking?’ Legolas asks.
Legolas stares at him with eyes that are too bright, too large. But his smile is gentle, easing. He is a prince. He is young. What does he know of the outside world?
Aragorn isn’t old yet, but he feels old. He broke his ankle three years ago, and it will never heal right. The knee on the same leg has gone bad, aching inside of him, and he is finding grey in his hair.
Legolas is older than him, so much older, so much younger. He is bright and strange and dangerous and kind. His hair is braided again and again. His fingers are too long.
‘Nothing will hurt us here,’ Legolas says. That could be true. But it isn’t. There are memories and nightmares moving around in his mind and making every shadow into a threat. The great trees could come tumbling down.

It was a scant hour after lunch when Sylvain strolled into Felix’s study and sprawled out in Felix’s chair.
“Sylvain,” Felix said, used to this particular song and dance.
“Felix.” Sylvain leaned back a bit more in the comfortable seat - all cushions and mahogany, sturdy and supportive for long days at the desk.
“You’re in my chair.” Not only was he in Felix’s chair, he was rifling through stacks of paper, messing up a carefully organized system, smearing ink. Except, of course, he never actually messed up Felix’s paperwork; Sylvain was just a nosy bastard who couldn’t help flipping through every letter they received, digesting the bulk of the contents with unfair speed and returning everything to order.
“Pretty sure there’s room for both of us. It’s a big chair.”
Felix glared. It was not a large chair. It was a chair sized for one person, currently completely occupied by Sylvain’s ass.
