Not all scars healed when the war ended. When the dust settled and the blood was washed away, what remained was a disproportionate amount of family dysfunction for a demographic that is biologically incapable of reproducing. At thirty-five years old, Darren has barely processed his own childhood trauma when he vows to protect and Darius like nobody ever did for him. But after several incident-free years of traveling with the Cirque together, a sudden act of violence against a young vampet reminds Darren that Steve Leonard's bloody legacy didn't die with him. When Darius loses his sanctuary, he has no choice but to return to Vampire Mountain with his uncle.
NOT a sequel to Bloodline. A spinoff, a companion, a further exploration of all that canon-divergent worldbuilding, even. But not a sequel. I would never inflict that upon the world.

*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*So begins the aftermath of a moment of chaotic weakness that cumulated in a raspberry liquor-flavoured kiss and a great deal of panicked introspection. Mika and Kurda distance themselves and long for the nights when the stifling tension between them was only political.
The silver lining? That orphan human baby they found is almost old enough to go to boarding school, thus bringing this era of forced proximity to an end.
Then everything will finally go back to normal.

Set 3 years after Bloodline. The war is over. The clans are at peace. Darren and Darius Shan have been travelling the world as full-time members of the Cirque Du Freak ever since. Darren gets it in his head that it might be nice to get everyone (literally everyone) together for the Cirque’s annual Festivus Feast. I don’t know what Darren expected. And when everyone shows up except for the one vampire that really *should* be there, Darren doesn’t know what he expected either.
TLDR: what we have here is the lore of the Dirty Chai AU with the energy of The Vampire Files adapted by the Hallmark studio.

Renley’s googly heart eyes face off against their toughest opponent yet — Mika’s psychological barricade. Or is it the other way around?

"I have a lot of words for whoever let you think you're funny, because it sure as fuck wasn't me." Mika deadpanned. But his mouth was twitching, and Renley knew he'd won. It was all over for Mika. Any second now, he'd crack.
"Then why are you looking at me like that?" Renley replied innocently.
"Like what?"
"Oh, give it up, baby. Show me that famous smile. Come on. Fake it like you love me."
For the thinnest fraction of a second, something in Mika's eyes went dark and Renley thought he pushed his luck too far. But then he was certain he'd imagined it, because he finally got what he wanted. Mika rolled his eyes once more to keep up appearances, then his face lit up with that exasperated, enchanting smile that made Renley's heart melt.

While the two clans grasp at peace, the Vampaneze Lord siezes an opportunity to orchestrate an attack on Vampire Mountain itself - from the inside out. Alternating POVs but heavily Mika-leaning. Steve & co don't show up til the third act.

Sire Ver Leth pays tribute to his late, great colleague in a way he knows won’t make sense to the other funeral-goers. That’s the point.
Preview:
“I’ve always wondered... why black?” Paris inquired casually one night as they sat in their thrones decompressing from a long conference, mere weeks after Mika’s investiture.
“Why not?” Mika retorted. “Everything matches. Saves time. Looks professional — not that anyone in this mountain seems to care. And I like it. Is that reason enough?”
Present-day Mika cringed at how defensive his tone had been. Just because you’re sitting beside him doesn’t make you his equal, he longed to chastise his younger self.
Paris took him in stride and responded with more patience than Mika felt he deserved — “Ah. I always assumed you weaponized your wardrobe as a subtle intimidation tactic. My mistake.”

It’s been almost a year since the War of the Scars ended. Darren’s plans to spend Christmas with his family ends up involving more family than he bargained for. (Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?) Meanwhile back in Vampire Mountain, upper management decides to cobble together something that vaguely resembles a holiday party to show their appreciation for the staff. At least that’s how they rationalize it. (And when Santa opens the doors to the Hall of Princes, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of a-holes this side of the arctic circle).
12 days of Christmas. 12 interconnected short stories from multiple POVs celebrating familial and platonic love, alternating between Vampire Mountain and the Shan homestead. Takes place in the time jump between Bloodline chapters 31 / 32. Obvious spoilers for that. You *can* read this story if you haven’t read Bloodline. It just won’t make any sense and you’ll have a bad time.

"Don't worry, Sails. The last thing I want is an apprentice." Mika snorted, rolling his eyes. "And trust me, I don't discriminate by gender. I've turned down three offers this year alone. I don’t have time to babysit."
"Come on, Mika. Think about it. You said it yourself - you're chasing glory. Everyone knows you have your eyes on an investiture. If you took a chance on a woman and actually managed to turn her into something worthwhile, it would make you that much more impressive to the Princes!" Ivan pressed, starting to look a little manic.
Something in Mika's face shifted, but it was clear he wasn't one to wear his emotions on his sleeve. When Arra felt her heart shatter, she didn't hide it nearly as well.
