Steve was provided with another best friend. Once known as the town freak, now a falsely convicted serial killer with a swiped squeaky clean record so kindly provided by their hack of a government, sitting in his passenger seat and in the process of embroidering a new patch from scratch, posture worse than a bendy straw. Eddie Munson accidentally pokes his finger with a sewing needle for what seems to be the fourth time during their drive to Hawkins High.

There are many things Eddie Kaspbrak is known for at his workplace. Most of them are the hush-hush topics that never reach him. At first, he'd been labeled as "very isolated" and "sort of intimidating"—because someone with big, sad doe eyes can't be that intimating, right? The labels began to surprisingly simmer down after the September of 2016, when his co-workers noticed a bit of a shift on his face and body language.

Fortunately, they recently fired a co-worker of his he's never been quite fond of, and a permanent replacement will finally fill in for that spot. Eddie loves his job and now loves it even more knowing he doesn't have to stress about having to see that old, conservative man almost every day.
Hey, at least the new guy won't cause some sort of impact in Eddie's life. Right?

"You gotta give me somethin," Jim practically pleaded. He was hesitant to push the kid, but he didn't want to see Steve dead on the side of the road after another drunk driving incident, or splayed out on the bathroom floor from alcohol poisoning. Something had to give.
Maybe something had. Steve's shoulders had started to shake—He was crying silently into his knees. Carefully, Jim set a hand onto his back, rubbing gently when Steve leaned into it. They spend a long few moments like that before Jim dared to speak again.

It is the early years of Jayce and Viktor's scientific partnership, and the Distinguished Innovators competition is only three days away. That is, if they can get all the work done for it in time when Jayce is exhausted, overworked, and at risk of burning out entirely before they even make it there.
So when Jayce jokingly asks Viktor to take control and tell him what to do, in the hopes that it will help Jayce relax and get some much needed sleep before the competition, he was not expecting Viktor to so readily oblige. Nor was he expecting what happened after.

Steve Harrington is a background character in Eddie’s life, one who he only knows because it’s a small town and everyone knows everyone. Everyone has some distant connection, some oddly personal anecdote about everyone else in town.
Eddie’s connection is that he’s been slowly falling in love with the guy for years before ever getting to know the real him. When he does, it only makes it worse.
