Summary
Let us go back to the beginning, rewrite the story as you know it. Hundreds of years have passed since Alexie first earned the nickname The Darkling, created the fold, and earned herself and all Grisha a way into the palace. She is losing hope for a way to destroy the fold, and, ultimately, to end the persecution against Grisha everywhere. That is, until the Sun Summoner appears.
Alina can’t help but be drawn in by the charismatic general of the second army. There is something about The Darkling that she just can’t ignore. And as she starts to settle into life in the Little Palace with the help of Zoya, she can’t help but wonder if being a Grisha was the only thing she was missing in her previous life.
Zoya is beyond annoyed that Alexie has appointed her the Sun Summoner’s new babysitter, but there is no way for her to refuse an order from the general, even less so if she wants to keep being invited to her bed. As time goes on though, Zoya can’t help but admit there is something in Alina that she didn’t notice before.
