“And do you?” John glanced at him, heart ramming against his chest. “Know what you’re doing, I mean.”
Bucky’s lips quirked up in a proud smile, tongue slightly darting, licking one corner.
“I know enough,” he said, chin raised, almost challenging.
Come try me. Test me. Find out.

“Whether he was kind or not, that’s subjective, but every time I regained consciousness I was asked if I wanted to die. Every time I said no. So he kept trying to save my body, or what was left of it, until he wasn’t able anymore.”
“That doesn’t make it right,” he said. “What he did to you wasn’t right.”
John tilted his head at that, as his brain processed his wording. The LED on his temple turned from blue to yellow.
It wasn’t… right?
