I wrote this after Assassin’s Creed Syndicate launched in 2015, and it’s been a journey. Over the years, I’ve honed my craft, sharpening dialogue to capture Scarlet’s biting drawl and Jacob’s cockney charm, deepening characters to reveal their scars and fire, and tightening the grit to make London’s fog and blood feel visceral. I hope Maggie and Jacob’s tale reflects that growth. It’s taken nearly a decade to refine this story and summon the courage to post it online. Sharing work publicly is daunting, every chapter feels like baring a piece of your soul, and the fear of judgment lingers. But after years of rewriting, tweaking, and wrestling with self-doubt, I’m finally ready to let readers into this world. I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride through Scarlet and Jacob’s gritty, heartfelt saga as much as I’ve loved crafting it. The only problem, is that many months later him and his mom move back to Vegas and they find out their ex-neighbor is still alive...as much as he can be. Now Charley has to learn to live with Jerry, as he decided Charley deserved to live since he did the unthinkable and actually escaped from Jerry.
