“Phil,” Etoiles starts seriously, “if we do not do this after spending 700 hours talking about the logistics, I will jump off the wall and I will not even try to MLG, okay?” Phil laughs again, it makes Etoiles smile reflexively. “Of course I want to jump out of my skin, I have been waiting here for so long I thought you had forgotten me.” Phil shakes his head and takes a step forward, still laughing.

He bites into yet another gapple, golden specks appearing in his pupils as its magic floods his body. Would my blood turn to gold if I ate enough of those? he wonders in passing.
(This night is void of stars, like every code attack-induced darkness. But they still shine on the warrior's dark green skin, white and silver star-shaped dots on his face and arms, like freckles. People didn’t call him Étoiles for no reason, after all.)
