“It’s fine.” He shakes his head. “It was a long time ago.”
“Doesn’t mean it was right.” Chimney mumbles, and Buck supposes this is part of what he’s never said. Buck puts his fork down and looks around at all of them. “Guys, it’s fine. They just couldn’t handle it.”
“Couldn’t handle it?” Hen repeats incredulously, but also a little too soft. “Buck, you were their son…”
“And I was a little shit.” He nods, as if it’s obvious. “I never made it easy on them. They just… weren’t cut out for it.”
Eddie’s soft look turns hard as he nudges Buck. “That doesn’t mean they had any right to abandon you. You were just a kid.”
Buck doesn’t really look like he believes him, and instead sighs heavily. “It’s over now. I’m fine. I got the Strands out of it, so I’m good. I haven’t spoken to them in years.” Luckily, the conversation is mostly dropped. He pretends like he doesn’t see the unreadable glances Eddie sends his way.
The Buckleys abandon Buck, the Strands adopt him, Tk comes into town post-overdose/post-tsunami, and demands that everyone gives Buck a hug damnit!

Summary
Because of course he’s in love with Buck. He’s Buck! He’s the guy Eddie’s been unconsciously leaning on for years, the guy his son calls his best friend, the guy Eddie’s taken upon himself to protect from any danger - physical and emotional. Plus, it’s always been Buck and Eddie. When the team goes out anywhere, it’s Bobby and Athena, Hen and Karen, Chim and Maddie, and Buck and Eddie. They’re coupled because they’ve somehow accidentally created this little family unit that couldn’t be more perfect if they tried. He's just pissed he never realized it before.
Because now, Buck's dating Taylor.
OR
Buck & Taylor date, have a wonderful relationship and Eddie's certain they'll end up together, but then they don't (but they're still besties) and Eddie decides to make his move - after waiting many, many months for buck to be not-so-heartbroken.

Eddie had thought he’d known himself pretty well.
But when he felt the bullet pierce his skin - for the second time in his life - and all he could see was Buck, unmoving with his face blank, everything Eddie thought he knew went out the window.

eddie got shot and instead of doing what normal people do and freak out over his own health, he freaks out over 1) Buck's health and 2) his OH moment bc he's in love with Buck. then he asks him on a date.

Summary
Watching Tk’s eyes change as Carlos revealed the truth and recognizing the warning signs of a certain breakdown while knowing there’s nothing he can do to stop it, was enough to have him consider just sitting in his car in the parking lot instead of actually leaving. His head tells him to give Tk space, but his heart’s holding on a little too tight, and he desperately wants to be the one Tk collapses into when this finally hits him.
And he knows it hasn’t yet, because he knows Tk.
OR
2x12 coda of the conversation we really needed to see on screen that acknowledges that tk shouldn't have been physical - and also acknowledges why without excusing it :)
