“No one could snap at you.”
Agape laughed, quietly.
“The Thief of Eddis once said much the same thing”. Heiro thought she saw bitterness cross her face, so quickly she would’ve thought she imagined it, but for the wrinkles that remained in Agape’s dress where her hands had, briefly, clenched. Agape followed her gaze, lifting her hands as if to smooth the cloth, and then paused. Slowly, she returned her hands to her lap, hiding but not smoothing the crumpled cloth. Heiro smiled, turning her head back to the dance. Her earrings jingled slightly as she did, and she thought she felt Agape’s eyes on them.

Summary
Grace had joked, occasionally, that they were a liquid and I was a solid, two completely different states of matter; it was a joke because it was an exaggeration, an overstatement. In reality, Grace had bones and teeth, and I had blood and steam, but we both enjoyed the pretense that we were more different than we were. It reminded us that our new friendship was something rare, something strange and special. Grace called themself a blob and called me a hunk of granite (a great insult that I was saving to use again on Erid), or they called themself a water balloon and called me a little mountain, or themself a puddle and me a pile of rocks: and they tilted at me, the human mouth tilt they called a smile, and that tilt always made me think again, lovingly, about the enormous odds against us ever having met.
Stone and water, water and stone. That comparison, even as a joke, never failed to ring a bell deep inside of me. Because I would think about erosion, about the long slow beat of water against rock, and I would think about how the rock was always, in the end, consumed.

Summary
Once, back in Kirkwall, Cullen had an arrangement with a member of the city guard that satisfied his needs. But time changed all things, and he despaired of ever finding a similar arrangement again - that was, until he met The Iron Bull. Problem being that Bull seemed to care far more about sorting out the nitty-gritty of such an arrangement than Cullen ever has.

Summary
Ferelden is one of the few countries in Thedas that will grant political asylum to those from the Imperium, despite the fact that they're not all that keen on mages. At all. Dorian's a new refugee with a set of skill nobody in Ferelden values. At least the library two blocks down treats him like a human being, despite being run by the largest Qunari in all of existence.

Summary
Grace grins when Carl takes the receipt off the waitress' hands and flashes his government-issued Amex Centurion.
“Kidnapping aside, you know, that is something I could get used to.”
Careful what you wish for, Carl doesn’t say.
The job is straightforward except for all the times it isn't.

Bull's pretty sure getting held captive by blood mages wasn't supposed to involve getting to know the guy in the other cell. Promising to get Dorian out of there was easy; the hard part was keeping Dorian alive.
For the Adoribull Minibang 2016.
