“Twenty,” Jimmy laments as he seeks the strength to pull himself upright. Trembling arms bring him half-seated as the monster peers at him, rather unhelpfully.
“Twenty?” it echoes.
“Twenty thousand. My quota,” he clarifies with an awkward shuffle to bring his hips far enough back to sit up. “You’ve destroyed my quota.”
“Well,” the monster begins, almost like it’s seeking an explanation before thinking better of it. It settles for a smug grin. “Aren’t you a greedy thing?”
