Summary
In a world where some people have a "Paradox", or a gene that allows them to turn into animals, Yang Jeongin has been on the street for three months after being kicked out by his parents when he presented as a Fennec fox Doxy. But one night, he seeks shelter in a warehouse district, where he finds a dryer vent. The inhabitants of the building notice a newcomer, and Jeongin's life changes forever as he learns the horrors of his pack's pasts and the grim reality of their efforts to keep other Doxies safe.

Summary
Hyunjin was a starving artist who was bored with life and sometimes sold sex to make ends meet. Jeongin was a terminally ill patient with some time left to live and had lost hope in his life. They met and learned through each other that life was beautiful because it was short.

Summary
“This,” Hyunjin says finally, voice smooth, almost bored, “will be 9913’s replacement.” He begins to pace, slow circles around the room, around him. “He’s smarter than all of you,” Hyunjin continues. “Faster. He’ll make every one of you look like a pack of script-kiddies playing in a sandbox.”
“Awe, baby, no need to stroke my dick like that,” the man shoots back, grin sharp and unrepentant.
Hyunjin stops in front of his office doors. The twelve men in the room look to him, waiting. His gaze drops to the prisoner in the chair, his voice lowering to something colder, something that cuts through the air like a wire.
“But just because he’s smarter,” Hyunjin says, “doesn’t mean he’s useful.”
He leans forward slightly, eyes narrowing.
“And what happens when you’re useless to me?”

Summary
Jeongin was taken in the middle of the night from Haven Penitentiary. He knew where his kidnappers were taking him: District Nine. The place where dangerous and magical individuals all hid, and the place where they'd kill him.
At least, he thought District Nine was the dangerous place. That was until one of its residents asked him why he'd been chained to his bed during an evacuation.
[Or, Jeongin is taken and finds himself questioning his protectors at Haven Penitentiary when the people at District Nine prove themselves to be connected to his past and surprisingly hospitable. Oh, and there's this really cute guy named Hyunjin there, too.]
