Summary
Van hummed along to the radio as she sat in the passenger seat of Natalie's new car, eyes drifting between her friend in the driver's side to the road that seemed to stretch endlessly ahead. A rectangular maroon sign on the side of the road that read ‘Welcome to Hawkins’ caught her eye. They were nearing their destination, apparently.
Hawkins, Indiana had sounded like a solid choice. Small town, the kind of place you'd look at and think probably a thousand different things before you thought “Yeah, a Yellowjacket would definitely come here,” and Natalie had an estranged uncle who lived there and offered to let them stay with him for the time being. The town had recently seen a bit of tragedy, with its mall burning down, but that just meant it was unlikely something bad would happen again anytime soon. Lightning never strikes the same place twice, right?
Or: A few of the Yellowjackets find themselves in Hawkins, Indiana, for one reason or another.

Garen signaled for his troops to head into the factory, weapons at the ready.
The king wanted more non-magical resources, and they'd heard many tales of the wonders of shimmer. It would increase the user's strength by tenfold, for starters. He'd also heard of its regenerative effects and how it increased stamina.
So the king ordered an attack on Zaun.
As they all entered, hackles raised, Garen narrowed his eyes.
The place was empty.
...It's a trap.
"It's a trap!" Garen shouted, grabbing the nearest soldier and pulling them with him back the way they came.
Or: After a small slip-up, Jinx is captured.

Memories were like people. No matter how long you hold them beneath the water, they'll keep fighting to get back up. No matter how hard she tried to drown them, she could not forget. Her brain would not let her forget.
Some of them were shrouded in a thick layer of fog that made her lungs sputter. It was mostly the happy memories, it seemed.
Jinx curled up into a ball, clutching at her aching head. She wanted, no, needed something to soothe the pain. To make it all go away.

“I’ll catch you.” (Please, fall for me). Van says truthfully and moves to lift Tai’s right leg above her shoulder. “Hold onto me if you need to.”
Tai just holds Van’s eye contact for a moment too long, Van wonders if she’s processing how good of an idea this is. Sure, they can fall onto the floor any second. The bed is right there, a few steps away, there’s no real reason for them to go through the trouble of fucking in the middle of the room. No logical reason at all.

Grieving Billy and feeling unwanted, the last thing she needs is El and Will reminding her of everything that went wrong last summer. But Max always gets exactly what she deserves, and apparently what she deserves is a complicated, messy friendship.
El is in school for the first time, and it’s better than she could have imagined. She’s involved in extracurriculars, she’s friends with an older girl, and she (sort of) has a family. But when Max shows up, bringing the past with her, El must grapple with who she was and who she wants to be.
