Jeongin looks over his shoulder to Seungmin—it’s always nice to get a second opinion. Seungmin notes Jeongin’s stare and clears his throat. “Massive internal bleeding,” he diagnoses. “Broken ribs, obviously. I’d say it’s more humane to put the thing out of its misery if you’re not going to turn it.”
“Is this, like—a death hallucination?” the human wonders, and the light flickers from its eyes. “Shouldn’t I be seeing the light? Not, like—vampire fantasy?"
“Humans are so silly,” Felix notes, prodding the human’s cheek with his fingertip. “And squishy and cute. Jeonginnie, can we get, like, a pet human?”

Maybe it was someone they knew—a patrolling dragon, a late flyer, anyone else, but the warning bells inside him wouldn’t stop. His instincts buried deep in his gut, in his chest, in his core, even his omega were all screaming. He scanned the skies around them, heart pounding in his throat. But the sun was dipping fast, and the horizon blurred into shadow. The tree line below was dense, making it almost impossible to see beyond the canopy. Something was wrong. Latte suddenly angled upward, gaining altitude fast—and then Seungmin saw it.

Summary
Whether or not his head bears a crown, Hyunjin is their king. In rags or silk, brimming with love or spite, he is theirs, and so too are they his. For reasons unknown, their fates are intertwined, and within that tightly knit destiny is a certain calm--a promise that everything will be all right, come hell or high water.
Then, they break fate, and fate, in turn, breaks them. With patchy memories of past lives and magic lost to a modern world, the only thing to do is hang on, and watch as Hyunjin lets himself get whisked away by the very person who has ruined them countless times. Now they have to worry about fixing destiny itself, and making sure their king, whose memories are lost to an ether they can't reach, stays safe.
The school play is, frankly, the last of their worries.
