As she blows out the puff of smoke, Sonic and Tails eagerly shying away from the smell, she gestures to Miles with a flick of her wrist.

It was a square shape, a bit larger than a normal notebook, with a white ribbon twisted into a bow to keep it closed. Tails picked it up curiously. It was clearly Sonic’s as he’d never seen it before, so it would be an invasion of privacy to look inside. But then again, Sonic had left it out in the open; if it was private he could’ve at least put it in his room. However, he hadn’t expected Tails to be home anytime soon so-
Who was he kidding. He could argue with himself all day if he wanted, but in the end he knew curiosity would get the better of him anyway. Before he could stop himself, he pulled at the ribbon and opened the book.

my heart was racing the whole time which is a good thing. i felt something. a switch of tone. and that - is the best thing for the readers to feel in someone's writing. i also love how it reflect's both of the character's and how tails stood up to himself.
