Summary
“It’s dangerous out here at night,” Remus wet his lips, suddenly aware of how dry they were, “and we’re quite far from the nearest town.”
The man in front of him continued to gaze up at him, eyes twinkling with a dangerous look, seeming to dare him to ask risky questions, to probe and let curiosity kill the cat. “What’s your name?” he asked, feigning ignorance to Remus’ concern.
“Remus.” He answered without a second thought to who he was telling this to, something about the other man made him want to lay himself out bare, secret’s spilling out into the night air, all the good and the ugly. Something about the other man was dangerous but Remus felt the blood in his veins ignite at the thought.
“Remus,” the man with eyes like the moon whispered, “I’m Sirius.”

"You will not believe this, Lily" Sirius gushed immediately. "People here just expect for you to waiter their drink over to them. Like it's some grand restaurant or something. I mean, look at that dude there!" (He pointed at Remus.) "Called out his name twice and he still didn't seem to get the message. I had to walk over to give him his drink. He didn't even apologise!"
Lily stared at him with wide eyes.
"What?" Sirius asked.
"Sirius, Remus is deaf" Lily whispered.
"What?" Sirius asked.
"He can't hear" she explained.
"Yeah, I know what deaf- ooh" Sirius realised. "I fucked up, big time."

Sirius meets Remus in a pretty embarrasing situation, and quickly realises he wants to make it better. Maybe he even goes over the top, but he doesn't mind, and neither does Remus.

Summary
The four-by-four heaves its way down long, twisting lanes, little more than dirt tracks scuffed into the surrounding fields and hemmed in by serpentine walls of flat, grey stone. They truly are in the middle of nowhere: the countryside rushes past, all rolling green hills and vast, endless skies, and it's odious. Sirius wants to murder James with his bare hands.
Sirius and James accidentally find themselves on a Yorkshire farm during lambing season. The farmer’s son thinks that’s a bit annoying, actually.

Sirius Black is the single flirty bachelor of his thirty-something friend group. He’s living his best life travelling and drinking every weekend. His best friend James is married and a Dad to five year old Harry and planning on baby number two with his wife. Their other friend Remus is a working Dad to a three year old Teddy and very recently divorced and then there’s Peter who is expecting twins. He couldn’t think of anything worse than snotty, whinging children..most of their school friends have children but Sirius can’t see them in his future, doesn’t see his bachelor life slowing down until one day, a terrified four year old is left on his doorstep.
