Summary
Starving to death is a process.
It starts with the liver, which can provide glucose for the first few hours. The body degrades glycogen from the liver in order to sustain blood sugar levels. After this, the body commences to break down stored fat and protein. Your muscles require an energy source and for this, the body uses fatty acids. The body lowers the amount of glucose sent to the brain.
In the next phase, the body will mostly use those stored fats for energy. This breakdown turns fat into ketones. The use of ketones lowers the need for glucose. The body slows the breakdown of proteins.
Finally, all your stored fat is gone, and your body will use your stored protein; this means your muscles will begin to break down, and they do so quickly. Protein is essential for cells to work correctly, and when it runs out, the cells can no longer function.
The body can typically last around three weeks without food. Fade has been asleep for two.

Cypher’s been trailing someone, out of the compound, for weeks. It’s a little personal endeavour of his own; something he’s kept to himself.
