    Loki is post-Avengers 2012, but instead of returning to Asgard with Thor, he elects to remain as a "guest" of SHIELD. A few days into his stay, Loki has unexpected company:

    The figure tilted its head and regarded Loki with its sensors. "Is your pain physical or emotional?"
    "Is... what?" Loki was taken aback.
    This was not a question anyone had ever asked him... In fact Loki couldn't remember the last time anyone had acknowledged he was capable of feeling pain of any kind. For a moment the breath was quite taken from his chest.
