“Given the circumstances, I believe a full-scale security detail would be inappropriate. A discreet, dedicated team would allow you to attend your day-to-day duties uninterrupted while we continue the investigation.” Caitlyn chose her next words carefully, knowing that this was the most delicate part of the conversation. “With one officer dedicated to your personal security during the course of your duties as councilor.”
She had barely finished speaking when Caitlyn’s office door opened again. Sevika glanced towards it, and Caitlyn saw the way her face immediately twisted into a scowl when she recognized the intruder.
“Oh, fuck no.”

Caitlyn Kiramman joined the Alliance in the hopes that she could put her excellent rifle skills to good use saving the galaxy from the reapers. She was furious when her politician mother used her overreaching influence to land her a safe and easy post back home at the very colony she was trying so desperately to escape. But when Piltover is suddenly attacked, it seems clear to Caitlyn that the reapers are involved. And – even worse – that they have someone colluding with them from within the colony’s very borders. To stop them, Caitlyn will have to put her trust in the most unlikely of places, and only hope it will be enough to face what lies ahead.
Vi has spent the last seven years trapped in Stillwater Prison, her biotic abilities shackled and her strength used only for punching dents in the walls of her cell and ripping chunks of eezo from the mines in the work camp below. But when an enforcer shows up asking for help finding someone who sounds a hell of a lot like Vi’s little sister, there’s nothing she won’t do for the chance to make things right. Even if it means working with someone she thought was her adversary, and standing up against an enemy that threatens to be the end of everything she's ever known.

Caitlyn had spent her entire career learning to spot a bad deal. This, objectively, was a terrible idea. She knew nothing about this woman.
Yet, the way Vi held her gaze, the sheer audacity of the one-week trial—it was exactly the kind of unexpected chaos Caitlyn secretly craved.

The dragon lowers her head, steel eyes narrowed. But… not threatening. Caitlyn can hardly breathe at the sight of them again.
“It’s you,” Caitlyn hears herself whisper as she crouches in the tall grass. The dragon chuffs, nostrils flaring with a low rumbling sound. She can see the way the muscles tense even from here a whole clearing away.
They sit there, unmoving with a sea of wild grass between them until the sound of another pair of wings whooshing high above startles them both. Caitlyn doesn’t move, heart thrumming as she waits for the moment to turn, for the dragon to remember herself and end Caitlyn once and for all. Or for her companion to land and finish the job. But instead, red wings take to the skies again, the clouds swallowing her whole.

Someone swipes their hands across her body and inspects her bag as she tries to hold still. She has to force herself not to look for Vi. With nothing else to focus on she turns to the statute of the blindfolded woman holding the scales of justice. If it were up to Caitlyn she would have to take off that blindfold. See what ‘justice’ amounted to sometimes. But just like Caitlyn could not move the beam that pinned her as a child or convince Vi to stay last night instead of having to trek all the way up here from Zaun, Caitlyn is powerless against the stone blindfold. She can do nothing except pass beneath her feet as she heads to the information desk. The Enforcer glances up at her as Caitlyn approaches.
“Good morning. Could you tell me where the clemency hearings are taking place?"
