Summary
“So?” Cassian shrugs, “we’re shopping, aren’t we? We should buy something. Wouldn’t want to waste a trip.”
He’s cheating a bit, reminding her of their cover. It’s an obvious bit of manipulation, and Jyn rolls her eyes, already starting to put the cloth down. “It’ll be a present.”
***
Neither Jyn nor Cassian have had many opportunities to buy gifts. They're weird about it.

Summary
"And that flash of a smile was enough for Faith to understand that Mrs. Vellet was not dry, and Miss Hunter was not cold, and to sense a moment of rightness like two notes in accord, the tiniest fragment of a melody that she did not understand."
Miss Hunter falls in love, featuring mail-order shopping, parish ladies, and very respectable pining.

Summary
But then Rodney would stand close to him, or be unexpectedly kind, or do something stupid and heroic, and John’s entire body would shout him, that one, Rodney McKay, him. Like the world was a candy store where John could just point and say I’ll have the genius with the big blue eyes and Rodney would be his with a bow on.
*****
John did not ask to sprain his ankle, to be reassigned to the best quarters in Atlantis, or for Rodney McKay to become his new neighbor. But that’s what happened. Post-series.
Here’s wishing callunavulgari a very Merry Christmas. She gave me a detailed letter with lots of avenues to explore. I was struck by “domesticity” and “a slow, lazy kind of jam that just makes me happy.” Here’s my attempt at that. <3

This writer has such a great grasp of dialogue and the fun details that surround a conversation - funny but purposeful character building stuff. Definite rec.

Summary
April 1986. Chrissy ditches prom to go see Eddie’s band play, and a month of uncertain flirtation comes to a head.
October 1990. Chrissy and Eddie reconnect in NYC, like a total cliché, and finally get the timing right.
Four years of missed connections, or, what if Chrissy and Eddie still had their drug-deal meet cute in the woods, but Vecna wasn't around to ruin everything?

Outside POVs are all so great (Jason and Wayne) but the Laura Cunningham is standout - "Of course, Laura kept these reminders gentle; she was subtle and unabrasive but consistent" just sends the sirens wailing. She's a HORROR. Get out of the house Chrissy! (The house is her mother).

Summary
You should come see us. We play at the Hideout on Tuesdays.
She doesn’t plan to take him up on it. Doesn’t pencil Eddie’s gig into her day planner, or anything, squished between cheer practice and her English paper that’s due next week.
It just sort of happens.
[or: three times Chrissy takes Eddie up on his invitation, and one time she doesn't.]

Charming dialogue and very fleshed out characterization for Chrissy. Rolling a nat 20 out of the context of a D&D game that still feels like such a victory. Doesn't rush and so the pay-off feels very earned.

Summary
The Lord of Hellfire persona is one hundred percent meant to awe and perhaps-slightly-intimidate both his friends and his freshmen. Theoretically, the fact that it means nothing to this kid should be annoying. In practice, however, he can't help finding her anti-authority streak both really funny, and highly relatable. He's been mouthing off to people trying to intimidate him since he was still short enough to get beaten up for it- Erica Sinclair looking him dead in the eye from the nearly-two-foot height difference between them and calling him a long haired freak to his face is almost enough to make him nostalgic. Eleven year old Eddie would've done the same thing.
So Erica keeps coming back because she's the only person bold enough to check him, and this is funny until he is bluntly reminded that her calling out things his other minions wouldn't acknowledge doesn't just apply to D&D.

Bookmarker's Notes
Why isn't there more fic about the Hellfire club playing D&D? This is pitch-perfect.
