“Shane?” Ilya asks again. “What happened?” His gloveless hand twitches and he lifts it a fraction of an inch towards Shane.
Shane tosses his own gloves to the ice and reaches forward, lacing their fingers together. “You took a bad hit,” he says, gritting his teeth against the fear clawing at his guts. “Flipped headfirst into the ice. Are you okay?”
Ilya groans in answer and squeezes his hand, though Shane can't tell if he meant to do that or not.
Suddenly, there are people all around them. Shane shifts protectively close before he realizes it’s the medical team.
“Hollander, get back to your bench,” someone says, but there’s no way Shane’s going. Even if he wanted to, Ilya’s gripping his hand like a lifeline, eyes finally locked on Shane’s face. Shane isn’t leaving him.

Zayn paused, his hand freezing as he was about to take a bite, his head snapping up to look at Louis. Louis could relate, it’s how he’d felt that morning after he’d woken up. He’d laid in bed for fifteen minutes trying to figure out what had happened, why it had turned him on so much, and then patiently waiting for his erection to go down.
“Like… my Niall’s Harry? Harry Styles?” Zayn clarified, his face bewildered as if trying to comprehend what had just happened. “Do you even like Harry?”

He tries to hold eye contact, but holy fuck , Harry’s blown-out pupils make it nearly impossible. It was almost frightening.
"Really?" Harry challenges. "You're not?"
"No."

The slam of Harry's hand against the doorframe sends Louis' heart right to his throat.
"Then why do you keep looking at me like that?"
His eyes snap to where Harry's arm meets the side of his head, realizing he's caged him in completely.
"Like what?" He swallows.
Harry grins.

said as much in my comment on the last chapter but— this is not my typical type of fic, yet i could not stop thinking about it after only about a quarter of the first chapter (at which point i had paused, thinking it might not be for me, and started a different fic). well, i was wrong! it stuck with me and i returned, quickly becoming unable to set it down, especially for the second half. wow wow wow. my apple watch alerted me about an increased resting heart rate three times yesterday and today while i was reading :’)

Louis taps through a few more profiles before one catches his eye, and he chokes slightly. The first thing he sees are wide, sparkling green eyes, framed by full lashes. The man has his eyebrows raised in a look of faux-surprise, full lips parted slightly, flashing a glimpse of white teeth and a pink tongue. Chocolate curls are shoved off the man’s face, almost chin-length. He’s pretty in an almost-feminine way, soft and delicate-looking, and Louis can’t seem to tear his gaze away.
Zayn hums from his place on Louis’s chest. “S’cute, but not really what m’looking for. Kinda wanna be tossed around a bit."
Louis barely hears him, but hums in agreement anyway. Harry, 25 is certainly not what Zayn is looking for, Louis agrees wholeheartedly. There's something captivating about him.
